The legal theory of the case is that any expenditure that could conceivably have a political benefit must be treated as a campaign contribution. This legal theory is totally discredited. NOBODY IN U.S. HISTORY has ever been convicted on this basis. EVEN IF THEY GET A TOTALLY COMPROMISED NEW YORK JURY, the conviction would be quickly overturned on appeal. All Trump has to say is that he paid her to avoid embarrassing his wife. Case closed. No political intent.

It doesn't matter what Cohen says, or whether he is "credible" or whether he is legally competent. The underlying theory is nonsense and cannot fly.
