Is this the "smoking gun"? Letter from Cohen stating Trump did not reimburse him for Stormy Daniels payment

EXCLUSIVE: Is this the smoking gun? Letter from Michael Cohen claiming Donald Trump did NOT reimburse him for hush money paid to Stormy Daniels appears to fly in the face of the star witness's grand jury testimony

  • Bombshell document, exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, could cripple prosecutors pursuit of criminal charges against Trump over payments to Stormy Daniels
  • Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, is the star witness in the case over which Trump reportedly faces imminent arrest for campaign finance violations
  • But in a February 2018 letter Cohen’s attorney wrote that ‘Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds’ and that ‘neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign reimbursed Mr. Cohen'

That's why Bragg has his tail between his legs. He could do something for "show and brownie points" This is just peanuts. A circus show...

"Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump Campaign was a party to the transaction with [Stormy Daniels]."

Yeah, it's a smoking gun all right. One that shows how our justice system has become one comparable to a Banana Republic, where opposition political leaders are persecuted and jailed.

Meanwhile, Trump went golfing today. Good for him.

Also, the Secret Service checked into the (Manhattan) Penninsula Hotel near Trump Tower, just in case...

Look in the mirror, my friend. Please tell me what part of the letter indicates that Trump committed a crime?

Here, I will include the letter, and you can tell me the words that get you excited. Thanks in advance.

Is this the email from the rag Daily Mail? LOL! You better hurry up and give it to Trumps lawyers to submit as evidence! LOL!

LOL at you thinking crimes are tried on message boards.

The perjuror is caught committing perjury again...

So Cohen says he now suddenly hasza ketter written by him claiming Trump never reimbursed him....

...which contradicts earlier testimony:

"Cohen has said Trump directed the payments. Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 through his own company and was later reimbursed by Trump's company, which logged the payments as "legal expenses."

So was he reimbursed or not? Cohen has claimed BOTH!

Nope. Trump admitted he reimbursed Cohen...

All Trump has to say is that he paid her to avoid embarrassing his wife. Case closed. No political intent.

Doubt that would fly with a jury given the timing of the hush money. Stormy first tried to go public with this story in 2011. For 5 years Trump made no effort to shut her up to protect his wife (which is funny to begin with since he cheated on her multiple times). Only when his presidential election was less than one month away did he decide to shut her up.

"Reimbursing" presumes the payment was made first....No evidence that Orange Man knew about the payment in advance.

You realize that's irrelevant even if true, right? Trump is in legal hot water for not reporting it as a campaign contribution. So even had he not known initially, he did become aware at some point and was obligated to report it to the FEC.

Trump knew that even if you don't as evidenced by him trying to deny it was a campaign contribution. Now it appears a grand jury will make that decision.

Even if it was a campaign contribution, that's a federal issue, not state or local.

You haters really aren't that bright at all, are you?

We're still not sure what Bragg is seeking an indictment for.

Bombshell letter from Michael Cohen claims Trump didn't reimburse him

Daily Mail is an extremely biased right wing source, and is notorious for omitting context which, if included, could lead to different conclusions.

Fact 1. Cohen has a series of $35k checks from Trump, we have the photostats, totalling enough to reimburse Cohen plus enough to pay the taxes which he would have to pay, to make it look like the payments were for legal services, which they weren't, as will be revealed in court. The fact that both Cohen and Trump recorded the funds as something other than what they were is proof of mens rea, guilty conscience.

Fact 2. There is no evidence Cohen provided any legal services during the periods Cohen received the checks.

Fact 3. But the clincher is the fact that there is no logical reason for Cohen to pay a porn star and a playmate with whom he, personally, was never involved with, the sums of $130k for Daniels, and McDougal $150K out of his own funds yet he did.
What, a Trump attorney is suddenly a charity for Trump, a billionaire? That makes no sense.

Fact 4. If the payments were hush money to keep it from Melania, or the story getting out to 'save his reputation', and not hush money to keep Stormy quiet just before the election, why did Trump wait 10 years to pay Stormy the money and sign an NDA? The fornication occured in about 2006, as I understand it. McDougal confirms that her 10 month relationship with Trump was just after newly wed Melania gave birth (Swell guy, Trump is). The payments were made just prior to the election, and occam's razor tells us it was to prevent the revelation harming his chances at winning the election. That is the in kind payment constitution election fraud. Throughout his life, I see no evidence Trump was ever concerned about his 'reputation'. Heck, he posed for cameos in three soft porn films:

So much for 'reputation'.

No, the facts point to hush money payments and falsifying business records to cover up those payments, and that can be tied to a crime of election fraud against NY State.

That is to say, if I'm reading the DA's strategy, correctly.

This is meaningless. ASSUME that Cohen paid the Slut to be quiet, at Trump's request. Who cares? The legal theory of the case is that any expenditure that could conceivably have a political benefit must be treated as a campaign contribution. This legal theory is totally discredited. NOBODY IN U.S. HISTORY has ever been convicted on this basis. EVEN IF THEY GET A TOTALLY COMPROMISED NEW YORK JURY, the conviction would be quickly overturned on appeal. All Trump has to say is that he paid her to avoid embarrassing his wife. Case closed. No political intent.

It doesn't matter what Cohen says, or whether he is "credible" or whether he is legally competent. The underlying theory is nonsense and cannot fly.

This.

They want to indict Trump because they're butthurt that he's Trump.

And the chattering monkeys on this board see nothing wrong with it, naturally.
