Zone1 is there only one true church, or can there be many?

Is there even one true church? I maintain that all churches are creations of human beings and inherently imperfect.

You can say they are inspired or guided by God, but the fact is every church evolves over time. Even the Catholics - who I might add are only ecumenical nowadays because some guy in a pointy hat said so in 1965.

If there was a church that was truly run by God, its doctrine would never change and never need to change. It would be as perfect and unchanging from the moment of its very beginning as God is.

How many churches did Jesus Christ establish? If churches differ in doctrine, I think only one can be true. Many churches can do good things but if their doctrines of salvation differ, then only one can be correct and possibly none.

As do I. I believe that after the martyrdom of the apostles of the church that Jesus Christ established, that the church fell into a state of apostasy. I don't believe that the Catholic Church is a continuation of Christ's original church and throughout its history has had many problems of being Christ's true church. The reformation came about because many realized that the Catholic Church was in a state of apostasy and was not Christ's true church. But even though the reformists started their own churches, they did not have the authority nor a full understanding of the doctrines of Jesus Christ. It wasn't until God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared before the young boy prophet Joseph Smith that the true church of Jesus Christ was restored upon the earth. So it is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that I believe is the one true church upon the face of the earth today which again is led by apostles and prophets.

thanks for your answer 😊

i think there can be many good churches.
what do you think? I am a Catholic, but i dont think all others are false.

Well of course there can be many good churches, and many valid religions. Only man cares about the politics of the best church, the first church, and the true religion, God just wants your love and compassion. Just as there are many roads to Istanbul, there are many paths to the Kingdom of God.

I am Messianic Jewish myself but I believe that Roman Catholics have some of the best and most accurate teaching on the State of the Dead of any large Christian church. I hope that you Roman Catholics are essentially correct with your ideas on "Purgatory" which fits wit the idea of us rising up and greatly improving in the afterlife even if we died in an unsaved state.

I know a lot of brilliant theologians who will vehemently disagree with me in this idea but this is where I am at after studying near death experience accounts since 1990.

I believe that the definition of a true Christian is somebody who has and is led by the Holy Spirit and I believe that all churches can have people who attend who are not yet led by the Holy Spirit but also I believe that all churches also have a number of people who are definitely led powerfully by the Holy Spirit.

I believe that it is important to pray and ask to be given the Holy Spirit so that our ego and selfishness can be burned out of us by Holy Fire.

But you are not in the flesh, you are in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Any one who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although your bodies are dead because of sin, your spirits are alive because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit which dwells in you. [Romans 8]

There are approximately 4,200 recognized religions in the world. Each one of those claim that "theirs" is the correct one. I think of them this way. If they follow some basic common-sense rules for its followers. Don't steal from others, since you wouldn't want it done to you, don't enslave others, don't physically harm others if they aren't trying to harm you, don't use your religion as a way to control those who don't follow yours and don't proselytize. Such a religion is acceptable. Ignore the others.

I think most of what you say follows what Christ taught, but the part about not proselytizing I don't agree with. Jesus taught:

Mark 16:15
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
