So what? They will now start paying for the government goodies they get. There is nothing wrong with that given nearly half of the people in our country pay no income tax at all. Where I live we have an 8 cents on every dollar consumption tax. 5 cents goes to the state and 3 cents to the county. We've had a consumption tax here (with increases from time to time) as long as I've been an adult.

We are spending ourselves into a hole which we will eventually be unable to support. Once we can no longer pay the interest on the debt, nobody will lend us anymore money. Furthermore by having a tax we all pay equally, it puts more dogs into the race. People will not be so enthused about government spending anymore. That pressure would force our representatives to quit spending so much on things we really don't have to have.

I never said our unemployment rate is good, I said it's improving; we are in the right direction. We'd have an even lower unemployment rate if these liberal cities and states would contribute to the cause. But they want to do the opposite. They want a ruined economy for political purposes at the suffering of the public. And no, it's not just rich people buying new homes. Under President Trump, people are confident in the economic recovery. Nobody buys a house unless they are assured they will have the income to make the mortgage payments.
