Best of luck with that Ms Beautress. Earthquakes are scary things if you're not sitting in the middle of a wheat field. I went through a 6.3 in San Diego sitting on the 6th floor of a 10 story hotel and thought how unpleasant it would be if the building collapsed. Keep the kids ready to run outside ASAP. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, Crick. Indeed, being a hundred feet up can be pretty unpleasant in a strong quake like the one you experienced. Sometimes in the next 2,000,000 years, San Diego may be part of the Baja peninsula, unless there is a rising out to sea that brings up another mountain range. Hope it's not in our lifetime.

Yesterday, Cochabamba Bolivia suffered a mag 6.3 Richter scale rumble. But up here in the US West Coast and Alaska,. few have been more than 3.0 that weren't a binocular's viewing of Siberia away.
