Liberals more often than not live lives closer to the teaching of the messiah than conservatives. In truth, there are very few "full-fledged Christians" on the planet...

The teachings of Jesus of Nazareth leave no room for wealth accumulation nor borders nor war nor neglect of the poor, etc..

Those teachings are a very high bar indeed...

Most human beings who subscribe to His teachings are more practical creatures and hardly ever attain His level of Right Living...

Most human beings who subscribe to His teachings fall very, very far short of attaining such an existence...

That includes those from both sides of that artificial "divide" that you mention above...

It's just a matter of degree...

The one group may be "horrified" but their horror is itself limited and self-serving in nature and has lost the moral high ground...

The other group may have subordinated itself to a relative strong-man politician but they've hardly "sold their souls" to the guy...

They... like so many... are willing to "look the other way" in a half-dozen focal areas so long as they keep getting what they want...

An all-too-human characteristic and an all-too-understandable part of the political life of ANY organized collection of people...

I thought the question was who lives their lives more in line with christian values? There are ways to do so beyond giving money. Like volunteering, living decent lives that consider others, like not electing politicians who take away life saving aid.

There are people in backward nations who are born into our charity, live entire lives on what we provide and die knowing no way to feed themselves other that what we give them. They no longer know how to get their own food the hunter gatherer of their great grandparents is long forgotten. They do not farm, they raise no animals, they do not work for their keep. They simply are.

What do they do, these barnacles on the belly of the world? They have sex both to increase their numbers and spread disease. Diseases for what we also must treat and protect. They form armed gangs to hijack and steal food aid from one another. Oh yes, massive killing. Could crippling boredom be a factor in this violence? They have to do something to pass the time before the next handout arrives.

It's not our problem. Let the Chinese have them.
