Is it time to increase the number of members in the US House of representatives?

No, in fact there should be fewer.

If two senators can represent the whole of Virginia why not far fewer reps. than the 11 we have currently?

Virginia is divided into five geographical regions:

  1. the Atlantic Coastal Plain,
  2. the Piedmont,
  3. the Blue Ridge,
  4. the Appalachian Ridge and Valley Region and the
  5. Appalachian Plateau.
Maybe one for each.

Either that or go 'whole hog' and have one from each county in a state if you want true "representation".

Yes.

Isn’t this what the founding fathers intended?

So with the exception of Bertram, who at least provided a smidgen of insight, the discourse throughout this thread has basically been at the level of an eighth grader, a bunch of flippant one or two sentence responses with little intellectual value. Nobody has actually provided a substantive argument or supporting evidence as to why this would be a bad thing, other than their own bias and ideological dogma which they don't seem to be able to articulate.

The U.S. House of Representatives has one voting member for every 747,000 or so Americans in 2023.

The U.S. House of Representatives has one voting member for every 250,000 or so Americans in 1923.

Can a congress member represent 750,000 people effectively?

america's job creators pay an immense price in lobbyists and industry contributions to congresscritters, increasing political contributions to support more people to represent the same corporations would be an inefficient waste of resources.

No, it's time to fly them all into the sun.

That would be the result if the pending Congressional Apportionment Amendment were ratified.
And who is attempting to do so?

I don't know that anyone is.

But this thread is about expanding the House, so that each Representative represents a smaller number of constituents.

I don't know that there are any other serious proposals to do so. I would say that if it ever were to happen, the most plausible way, by far, would be to finish ratifying this proposed Amendment, which is still pending.

It is long pass due to tar and feather all the Democrat and RINO members of Congress and then run them out of town.

I think it makes sense to look into expanding the House going by your statistics you presented.
