Is it time to increase the number of members in the US House of representatives?

The U.S. House of Representatives has one voting member for every 747,000 or so Americans in 2023.

The U.S. House of Representatives has one voting member for every 250,000 or so Americans in 1923.

Can a congress member represent 750,000 people effectively?
and give even more power to cities?

no thanks

Districts should be drawn up in how many voters it has who can pass civics tests and get legal ID's, not 'population' alone. That way California loses 95% of its seats in Congress.

Two Senators seem capable of representing millions in most cases. Maybe House members should up their game.

We need 50% less people in congress.

There are already too many Republicans and moderate Democrats in the House catering to the whims of the billionaires and Big Business. It's doubtful the American taxpayers can afford any more crooks like these in Congress.

Remember, the people must also deal with too many Republicans and moderate Democrats in fifty state legislatures, because very few voters are willing to vote these bums out. Even when they do they elect more of the same.

The words of someone who wants everything his way, screw everybody else. That is what is wrong with the USA

Translation: Let's make the government even larger and tax the people more.

The original proposed Bill of Rights contained twelve Articles, of which only the Third through Twelfth were soon ratified, becoming the First through Tenth Amendments. The Second Article was eventually ratified, two centuries later, in 1992, becoming the Twenty-Seventh Amendment.

The First Article is still pending; and it would specify the Growth of the House, in accordance with the growing population. It currently stands at eleven states having voted to ratify it, out of thirty-eight needed.

If it were in effect, the House would now have to contain at least six thousand members.

I can see some serious logistical problems with trying to have that many members of the House.

Nobody is asking for 6000 members of the house
