Is America fighting a "Cold" Civil War??

I think America is in the 2nd Civil War, but like the situation with the Soviet Union, it is a Cold War. Just like the Soviet Cold War, there are factions taking political and economic stances and actions in order to harm the other. The factions are Democrat/Liberal/Progressive vs Republican/Conservative/Libertarian. There are millions of moderates who are stuck in the middle of these two.

And UNLIKE the 1st Civil War the the Cold War, there are no uniforms or geographic boundaries. The combatants take the form of normal citizens, like the War on Terror against Al Qaida, who do not wear uniforms or belong to an Army of any type.

It seems our country is getting more tense, more "on edge". People are arming themselves. People are quietly wishing harm on the other groups, maybe not physically, but wanting them to fail to get their goals met.

I think we are indeed in a Cold Civil War. And it is going to end badly, like the Cold War vs the USSR did.

Oh, the drama!

We have always been divided, contentious, and armed.

I think globalization and a reduction in resources combined with a population boom are just as much of a problem.

Population is not a problem, we have more than enough resources, and globalization is an inevitable economic development.

Globalization is a contrived economic development, inevitably doomed to failure.

Exactly the opposite. And, significantly, it has brought prosperity and opportunity to countless millions worldwide who had never experienced them before. Not to mention making more markets and more consumers available for American goods and services than ever before. Chicken-shit isolationist bullshit does NO ONE any favors in the long run.

Yep the cold war ended badly for the socialist in Russia, now some have moved here too America

Progressives root for the USSR that's why they hate Reagan

You're right. I point to these causes - A) lack of knowledge of history, government, and the forces at work in this new age of globalization where the world is changing every day (and it's almost impossible to keep up with), B) the advent of hate radio-TV that fans the irrational flames of those prone to fall for it, C) boredom, and people not using their time to investigate what I listed in "A" and, D) increased consumption of booze and drugs.

Is it any ******* wonder A and E's series about zombies is a smash hit? We've become a nation of dumbed down and drugged up zombies.

The Cold War against the Soviet Union ended badly?

Ask millions of Germans, Poles, Czecks, Slovaks, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Estonians, Romanians, Armenians, Belorussians, Georgians, Azeris, Uzbeks, etc.

I think they would disagree with you.

Population has never been a problem, it's all in how we distribute resources. Someone did a study about 10 years ago and found you could fit all the world's people in an area the size of Texas in 4-person homes. Get on Google Maps and scan the world - there's tons of room.

Dumb Frank -

Progressives root for the USSR that's why they hate Reagan

Can you find a single example on this board of ANY poster supporting the USSR?

Honestly, you are like a fish that hooks, guts and scales itself, aren't you?!

I think this nation has been in that same battle for the hearts and minds since DAY ONE.

The issues change in detail but they are and always be the same issue.

The nature tension between the rights of individuals versus the right of the society to defend itself from individuals whose actions harm their neighbors.

Striking that BALANCE is the ART of governing.'

And as conditions change, even if we find the perfrect balance, well need to keep refinding it it as conditions warrant.

Now I know there's some here on this board just waiting for the opportunity to take revenge on people who they feel slighted by.

They'll justify their sociopathological desire to hurt people (who they believe hurt them) with some noble sounding cause while they mentally jerk themselves off imaging their heroic part in the coming revolution

That has always been the case.

That SEEMS to be the normal condition of immature or never mature-able males.

The interersts of sparsely populated, predominately rural states are often at odds with densely populated states dominated by big cities. The red state/blue state thing is bogus. If the move toward a true democracy, which seems to be what the liberals are shooting for, continues the rift will deepen.

Thus the calls for a weaker federal government. No one wants civil war, cold or hot. People simply want to live their lives as they see fit without ridiculous mandates from the feds.

The two sides have now grown so far apart that the nation is basically ungovernable. Neither side wants to put up with the other. Bush was relentlessly attacked by the left. Romney was the victim of some pretty scurrilous lies. Democrats will not accept a republican in the chief office and democrats are so destructive, that republicans won't accept obama or some other democrat's pronouncements. There can be no balance because there are no longer any points on which the two sides can agree.

lets ask Misty, Matthew, squeeze berry, etc.. They'll know :( They seem to be beside themselves after our proud African American President was resoundingly reelected :)

***edit- the one I couldn't remember- Sunshine!!! :

The only reason 0bama won is so some could prove they are not racist. In the process they succeeded in proving they are stupid.

doesn't acct for his reelection klangirl :clap2:

but in daily life the enemy right now is liberals. Liberals feel the same way about conservatived. All evil comes from republicans.

No sane person belives that, left or right. You seem to have this incredible desire to promote whatever is worst for America, which is why I think that in your heart you are anti-American.

Any sane, balanced person understands that neither party holds a monopoly on truth or justice. There are many smart and stupid people on left as on the right.

Rather than pretend liberals are your enemy, maybe you'd be better off looking at what is best for America, and how you can work with liberals to promote American values.

that would require her, & her conservative brethren, to accept our twice-elected, proud, African American President :doubt: :eusa_whistle:

What do Obama's race and arrogance have to do with the subject.
