More likely would be for the US Marines (and maybe 101st and 82nd Airborne ?) to seize the Eastern shores of the Straits of Hormuz to prevent Iranian military from attacking and blocking shipping.

As for Iran - been there a couple of times and personally know about a dozen or so Iranians - those who are in support of the Mullah regime account for around 65-70% of the population. Whilst also opposing certain restrictions upheld by the Mullahs.

Try about 80% of the Iranian population AGAINST the Mullahs. If what you said was true, It would not take the IRGC to go out, threaten and kill civilians. The reason it happens is because the ruling party fears the people who outnumber them. If 70 % of Iranian people favored the radical muslim regeime.. they would keep the 30% in their place but that isnt the case
