Iran may have found a new weapon

Tar balls under the surface.

Second and perhaps the most obvious reason oil threatens desalination plants is the
damage it can do to sea water intake filters and heat exchangers. Oil in sea water can
take the form of the well recognized slick, but it can also form large tarballs and “sunken
oil globs” that can be drawn into intake filters.5
Obviously, the oil can then foul the
filters limiting the amount of water intake as well as foul internal membranes disrupting
the reverse osmosis process if affecting a reverse osmosis facility.
The required clean-up and problems caused by oil affecting a multi-stage flash
facility are no less troublesome. “If oil enters a (multi-stage flash) desalination plant it
may be necessary to first use a solvent to loosen the oil particles. Next, the plant should
be flushed with soap and water and finally it should be flushed with fresh water. Oil
clings to heat transfer surfaces, disrupting the heat transfer process.”6
First the oil has to reach the western gulf. It's a pretty big place. Wind and currents would likely prevent that from happening. It would probably hug Iran's coast to the Arabian Sea.

If I remember right the current is circular. I remember the mine sweepers cleared boxes. These boxes were a circular current.

Id say if they do what Saddam did burning it would be a good start.

It's getting scary
There have alwasys been people out there who want to scam you for one reason or another, and for them AI can be an amazing tool, so you have to be a little more careful but if you want to research a subject, pretty nearly any subject, an AI search engine is the most amazing tool there is.

Oil slick from kharg Island....

If it reaches the local desalination plants we're talking real problems here folks.

Jo

How do you know Iran spilled oil? Could have been a ship with a leak. Could be the USA or Israel "muddying the waters" (no pun intended) and attempting to blame Iran as a means to get the Gulf nations more involved. Could be oil from one of the destroyed oil refineries in the region. At this point, it's not a good idea to trust any media sources or the US Government since their stories change by the minute.

Yes I believe several people have mentioned that possibility....

Over 10 weeks since Trumpf’s brainstorm.
I wonder if he knows that the whole world is making jokes about him and ridiculing America’s totally inept performance so far .

Wasn’t Tehran going to be knocked back into the Stone Age within the first two or three days ?
The ships are going round in circles and the soldiers are stuck on vessels with broken kitchens and toilets that don’ t work .
It’s like some absurd American comedy programme .
And then you hear from Munchers who genuinely think Trumpfy is a good chap and is doing very well .
You could not make up such nonsense in any other context .

Whole world huh.

Hell the French brought their carrier to the Gulf. LOL

If your intake is below the surface, how would oil be mixed with the water as it floats on the surface. I learned a lot about oil spills in the Navy and simple floating booms to keep oil away from the intakes should be sufficient. My ship actually spilled some fuel in Port Canaveral a few days after I reported aboard. Having just attended the school, I helped the port unscrew their boom system we needed because they deployed the thing upside down.
I would have thought that too, but Copilot says otherwise.

Possibly some of the oil is soluble with the saltwater?

It doesn't matter who they blame this stuff needs to stop right now. You've got millions of people depending on desalination plants cross the way...

Once that stuff invades the desalination plants the plants are all done...

I don't give a crap about the politics or the motives or the sides..... We are talking about a large scale catastrophic event here! This is way beyond any joke.

All the more reason to remove the vermin from power, not run around appeasing them because some tards think Jews are stealing their underwear.

Crude oil early on was refined using treatments with sulphuric acid and caustic soda that were then washed out with water, so indirectly they are. It depends on what other chemicals are mixed in with a given pool; some are bound to be soluble in water, even if the pure crude itself isn't.

The Gulf states have militaries too and somehow or another I think they're going to become involved. Iran is still capable of taking out their desalinization plants with missiles and taking out their power plants as well it would mean the end of Iran but these people are suicidal I think.
They are not suicidal, they just losing other options. And, talking about moral choices, did those Gulf Tyrannies worried about genocide in Gaza, about slaughter in Syria and Libya? Didn't they supported illegal and unprovoked US aggression against Iran? Why should Iran (or anyone else) worry about their survival then?

Never took physic? No!
Ever eat a salad with oil in the dressing?
So why does Copilot disagree with you? (yes I took Physics and Chemistry in college)

Does crudeoil float on water or sink? What about gasoline?

Is AI experienced with sea-based evaporators? Did AI produce all of the water used on the ship, including boiler water/feedwater for the two largest marine boilers in the world, plus 2300 Marines and 1000 sailors? I did!

LHD produces 2 million gallons a day but we Never tried doing it in an oil spill. Again the tar balls could clog the i
Suction lines and filters.

Here is an example of an oil spill that shut down 3 Israel Desalination plants

2017 oil spill closed three desalination plants for three days, official reveals

For reference LHD5

I was MPA on USS Nassau. Same plant. Iwas hired to be a systems engineer for the LHD class before Clinton's cronies canceled the contract.

Iran's attacking the Gulf states didn't trigger a militsry response, but oil spilling towards desalinization plants is life or death, a major blunder by Iran. Now the US has military allies. I'd even unleash the Kurds and the others when the ground attack starts.

Iran's regime are radical Islamists. They don't give a shit about anything but their own power. If they are down to just one Revolutionary Guardsman armed with a BB gun they will hold out to the bitter end and look forward to meeting Allah. A little old oil slick? No problem.
