The young workers who are now being burdened with unnecessary student debt are our future, the young generation that will make sure your old crusty ass will have goods and services to buy with your Social Security pension and doctors and nurses to take care of you, who are 20, 30+ years younger than you, and are of working age. The older generation screwed up this economy and the least that we can do is facilitate and better equip/empower them to work and have a decent life.

No it doesn't, because our yearly GDP is now at 24 trillion and that's what determines how much money the federal government can "print". Our nation's production capacity is way above our budget, so it would be easy to forgive the student debt. It would actually increase production.

It imploded when it started to "reform", in the 1980s with Perestroika and Glasnost, to placate the US, with the hope of ending the cold war. The economic troubles began for the Soviets when they started trying to end the cold war and make friends with the United States and its allies. The revisionist forces and capitalists within Russia began eating away at what Stalin had built. The earlier generation of Marxists was 100% committed to the nation and that's why it was so successful from the beginning, until the 1970s. The USSR was dissolved by traitors within the USSR, not because socialism doesn't work, although that's the Western argument. Those who know what actually happened, know that's not true.

However, did capitalism replace feudalism and the kings of Europe overnight? How long did it take the mercantile class to become the powerful capitalist industrialists of the 1800s? It took centuries. The conditions had to be present for capitalism to overtake feudalism and the monarchies of Europe, replacing them with Republics. It didn't happen overnight. So why resort to the line of argumentation that demands socialism replace capitalism overnight, to be a "good system", when you're debating socialists? Workers don't need capitalists to create jobs for them if only the SBA (small business administration) and the banks would loan workers with good credit the money to launch worker-owned cooperatives. Unfortunately, due to capitalists having control of our government and financing, business plans for worker-owned co-ops are rejected and loans are hardly ever, if ever given for such businesses. The capitalists don't want to compete against cooperatives, due to how competitive they are, being that they have less overhead, being owned and operated by the staff.

Capitalists are exploiters who pay workers less than what they produce, in order to generate an income (based on the supposed "surplus value" of production). There's also no democracy in the capitalist workplace, yet workers spend much if not most of their waking hours at work. The Republicans are supposedly champions of freedom and liberty when it comes to democracy in politics, but not in the workplace. These supposed defenders of freedom, hate the idea of leadership in the workplace being elected and accountable to their subordinates. That's not allowed in the capitalism promoted by Lisa and her ilk. The capitalist workplace is an absolute dictatorship.

They also hate the idea of workers unionizing and negotiating their terms of employment with wealthy, powerful employers collectively. Only the rich like Lisa or her hubby, have the right to unionize and collectivize with other wealthy capitalists, to advance their financial interests. They have chambers of commerce, super PACs, guilds, and associations for their particular industry. The capitalists love to unionize when they negotiate their terms with politicians, through the army of lobbyists (professional bribers) who they employ, to bribe politicians with campaign contributions and perks. The capitalists fund "think tanks" (stink tanks) that write government policies and hand them to the lobbyists, who then hand them to their cronies in Congress.

The capitalists hate the market, they want to monopolize and reduce competition as much as possible. They destroy our democracy and exploit human labor. Capitalists are a worthless class of parasite middlemen. The working class should take control of the government and the means of production. All of the productive enterprises should be owned by the people who work in those businesses. The staff should own the business collectively and run it democratically.

Yup. And the private market will want to make sure its loans are repaid, and will lend to those who are likely to do so. That means the engineering major who had a 3.9 GPA and high SAT scores will get a loan; the 2.2 student who is going for Gender Studies will not.

Watch as the universities focus their programs on marketable careers and send the useless majors to the wayside.

And yes, the person who CREATES the business deserves to earn more than the staff. That’s the reward for taking the risk, and working 12 hours a day for a year to get it off the ground.

When “everyone” owns the business, the slackers ride the coattails of the better workers. So the slackers have no incentive to work harder, and the better workers figure why should I have to carry the weight of the slackers, and slow down.
