The Capitol police were in wholly and completely understandable fear for their lives and the lives of Senators, House Representatives and their staffs. It's not that you don't know that. The FACT is Ashli Babbitt was unarmed and presented no threat to the armed cops not a few feet
away from her (as anyone can clearly see in the video of the shooting). Try watching it sometime

Have you seen the videos of members of the mob calmly and peaceably wandering through the Capitol
halls looking around and taking pictures of the sights? They even were careful to stay within the red velvet
restraining ropes, not wishing to disrespect Capitol protocols.
The people inside the Capitol were more like tourists from Utah than some wicked mob.
