1975 Ruger Mini-14

I picked this one up today at a local shop.....I have $550.00 in it.

Second year production.

Pretty nice shape. Aluminum buttplate.

I don't know what the overly complicated dingus that is on the side but it looks to serve the same purpose as the mechanism that is currently covered by a plate.

The stock is configured differently than later models, more squared off on the bottom.

Sometimes it just the little things but I really like the old style sling swivels as you can get a M1 carbine sling through them without having to alter them.

To me, every gun has a unique purpose. I wouldn't buy 2 of the same kind of gun. So I have a 22 long rifle, a 22 handgun, a 45 handgun, a deer hunting 450 bushmaster, a 410 shotgun for birds and skeet shooting, a bb gun, muzzle loader, crossbow.

What is this gun for? Doesn't seem like it holds a lot of rounds is it a good deer gun? My 450 bushmaster mag only holds 3 bullets but boy are they big bullets. Take down a bear, deer, elk.

I've had a tactical mini-14 for years. It's the only one my partner likes to shoot.
I also own several other firearms, including black powder pistols.

These are .308s correct?
EDIT: Not that version. Too small for me. I wanna be able to take down at least medium sized game and give body armor a run for its money. If the SHTF you need a bigger gun, like a .308 or a .357
