Deputies said on Monday, he removed the GPS ankle monitor and left the program.

“While Miller was not in custody within the confines of the UCSO jail facility in Spanish Fork, he was only allowed to leave as part of the court-ordered GPS monitoring program,” said the sheriff’s office in a statement. “To remove the GPS device and leave supervision is considered escape.”

Miller was being held on the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, theft, attempted possession of credit card, and forgery.

It's all fun and games until it's your credit card and forging your name.

GPS tracking devices would not prevent him from performing any of the actions he was cited for. All he requires is a mobile device. GPS anklet is moot.

Nope. It wouldn't. That's not the point.

If the anklet is not the point, what is?

The point is that there were other crimes committed in addition to the drug charge. Secondly, he was moved to the drug court and admitted into a substance abuse residential treatment program. That's when he took the ankle monitor off and left. Diversionary programs in place and still failed.

Won’t be long before he is caught

Then he goes to real jail

Officials say when Miller is apprehended he will also face a charge of escape, a third-degree felony.

Not a major criminal......now he is

He's an addict. We are only privy to the information from his escape. We have no idea what his priors are. This may just be his first drug charge included with theft charges.

It's probably not his first theft because he is an addict. He escaped because he is an addict. Where is he getting his money to get high? He's committing a crime to get the money to get high.
