It boils down to the diametrically opposed ideologies. Republicans support opportunity for all and democrats promote more government control that ends up stiflling opportunity. The government control proponents might try their hand at an experiment that targets the most obvious symbol of decadence in American society. Force actors who actually produce nothing but two or three useless hours of entertainment to the average family (and make twice the salary of people who actually produce a product) to accept the same salary as the stage hands and the camera operators and see what happens.
