India diplomat indicted, asked to leave U.S.

The "slave" agreed to the wages, could quit any time she wanted and is under indictment in India for extortion.

the "slave" got her whole family with the help of her vicious employer ( and that is why she faces the visa falsifications allegations - because she wanted to help the lying "slave" to get her whole family into the US) and then decided to make a buck and started to blackmail her employer.

Gosh, people here are really .... gullible.

it's unbelievable.

He had no choice. The alternative was just too painful. Not even obama was ready to scrap the entire international relationship for one crminal maid. The maid is still charged with various crimes in India. She can't go back.

Yes, she CAN go back. The US is not here to keep their criminals out of jail.

Yes she can go back and be met by handcuffs when the plane lands. The maid got a witness visa and was able to bring her whole family here in anticipation of the case against the diplomat. Maybe the skank and her family will now be deported.

yeah, right.

the skunk and her family will now land up on the taxpayers tab - all those who have cried over poor lying "slave" here will pay for the welfare and immigration costs of the whole skunk's family

she will get the green card as a refugee - because she will face criminal prosecution in India

our system will grant permanent legal residency and welfare support to the skunks like this, but a guy who has worked his way through all the way to the law school and did everything right - has to wait 20 years fro his adjustment of status.

Only in America the authorities can be so stoopid

a "slave" :lmao:

India diplomat indicted, asked to leave U.S.

Unbelievable first they fuck up and strip search her then they allow her to walk on the charges. Obama is a fool. His Administration is foolish and dangerous. To stupid to get anything right.

Didn't she have Diplomatic Immunity?

" NEW YORK/WASHINGTON D.C. (Reuters) - The Indian diplomat whose arrest and strip-searching in New York caused a major rift between India and the United States was indicted for visa fraud on Thursday, and the U.S. government immediately asked her to leave the country.

A U.S. government official said Washington accepted a request by India to accredit the diplomat, Devyani Khobragade, at the United Nations and then asked New Delhi to waive the diplomatic immunity that status conferred. India denied the request, leading Washington to ask for her departure, the official said."

Wasn't this about the enslavement of a young woman brought to America?

Slavery is against the fourteenth Amendment, isn't it? It says, "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

I'm against slavery and therefore support the request that the offender leave the country and her slave set free as long as she is on American soil as a message to anybody who comes here, regardless of status.

I regret any alleged mistreatment of an Indian diplomat. Her strip search was over the top, but has nothing to do with bringing a house slave into this free country which is against our Constitution.

The maid needs to go back to. Their country. Their laws. The maid is a criminal in her own country. That is not justification to keep her here. She should just go back and face the music.
That may be so. However, if she truly were a criminal, why did a diplomat bring her here as a slave which is against the US Constitution?

Becki, please stop repeating NONSENSE.

Nobody was brought as a slave and nobody was a slave.

she was PAID and was free to leave any time she decided to.

She instead decided to blackmail her employer.

In all honesty I can still not understand who and on what level f*** up so grossly - this is a non story from the very beginning and during the 5th year on the scene even THIS administration should not be so amateurish on the basic matters.

I just can not understand who wanted to get a big political victory and on WHAT?
because such major f*** ups do not happen just out of stupidity.

but if they do - God help us all to survive the next 3 years

Her salary was quite generous according to the wages in India, but she had tried to blackmail this diplomat before and has an order not to file any additional claims. She violated that order and is subject to arrest in India.

She wasn't bought and was no slave.

Maybe by realizing she does not have to be a slave any more she will have a son or daughter who will find a cure for malaria that is 100% effective in eliminating this major killer of children in the third world.

America is about opportunity. Indian people are genetically gifted with braininess, but their political situation ensures never rising out of the caste system.

Let's give a slave the opportunity to be a free woman and hope someone in her family gives back to the world a gift that will save lives sometime!

Let's remember our belief that all men are created to be equals and give her a chance. The worst thing that could possibly happen would be that she got mugged or something. But the risk is worth her fighting it out to change her life with opportunity for her children to get an equal shot at the wreath of roses that success is.

She wasn't kept in India. She was brought to the land of opportunity by a spoiled brat who was too pampered to make her own bed, fer pete's sakes.

Nothing we could do. She has diplomatic immunity. From the article in the OP:

A U.S. government official said Washington accepted a request by India to accredit the diplomat, Devyani Khobragade, at the United Nations and then asked New Delhi to waive the diplomatic immunity that status conferred. India denied the request, leading Washington to ask for her departure, the official said.

She only has immunity NOW because the Obama Administration gave it to her after the arrest, her original posting does not carry diplomatic immunity EXCEPT in relation to official acts. As was covered in the other thread.

:cuckoo:

she was WORKING and was not "brought".

she looked for a job and the job involved working in the US.

do you think we need more criminals in the US?

it seems you think we do.

this woman is a criminal.

and should be deported together with her family back to India.

What she was paid in India has nothing to do with what her wages are supposed to be in the US. The diplomat in question LIED on official documents as to her payment and her status. She worked her for more then 8 hours a day 7 days a week and paid her pennies.

Once again for the stupid in this thread the maid was a victim and the diplomat a criminal.

Gullible? European people cleaned out their prisons of people placed there for stealing a loaf of bread to work at slave labor in colonies. And they extracted a terrible price, then added ridiculous taxes on top of all that to people who'd by then been here half a dozen generations.

Furthermore, they consider us the mutts of the world.

We - the criminal nation and of savages - showed them!

In this country, if the President pardons ya, you are set free.

That's also in the Constitution. ;)

I think I know why the US attorney acted so grossly idiotic in violation of not only reason, logic and all the laws and agreements involving diplomatic relations but plain common sense.

He is an Indian by origin Preet Bharara, and quite possibly his family in India and the family of this criminal which wanted to distort the Indian diplomat are somehow related. Or she is a Sigh and he is a Sigh, and the diplomat is Hindu.

In other words - good old corruption. Plus the idiot wanted to make a name for himself as a defender of "poor slave" which he wanted to use as a political trampoline for the future, and instead made himself a center of international scandal and, most obbiously, buried his political aspirations. Although if he is a dimocrap - who knows, that is the party of jerks and idiots.

Becki - pay attention - the idiot US attorney clearly proves your assumption about anybody from Indian origin to be genius is a fallacy.
And we have enough criminals already, we do not need one more added.

BTW, the high rate of achievement among the Indidan immigrants is directly related to their origins - neither of the doctors, lawyers or mathematicians is a descendant of a CRIMINAL and a LIAR like this criminal housekeeper.

They are from the same educated families as the Indian diplomat is.

In any instance our country does not need any more criminals - we have enough of our own.
Deport her and her family back to India.

but rw's defend Bush using tax money and private plane to keep bin Laden's family from being questioned about 9/11 and then, purposely letting Osama bin Laden go.

In this country the President still does not have jurisdiction over a criminal from another country.
ICE does. Deport her ASAP

although this particular president, deeming himself a king, is violating the Constitution right and left, so I won't be surprised if the criminal housekeeper from India would be granted green card in violation of ANY existing law by our liar in chief himself.

Deport her and her family back to India.

Prosecuting attorneys get some kind of bee in their bonnets and think they have THE case that is going to skyrocket them to fame and fortune. It's what happened to Philobosian when he seized upon the McMartin preschool case and what happened to Mike Nifong in the Duke Lacrosse case.

The only perplexing thing is what took the state department so long to step in and put an end to the farce.

wasn't this idiot Bharara the same to FALSELY prosecute the French presidential candidate only to later discover the "poor woman" was a criminal in a classic scheme aimed at distortion and blackmalil?

I am surprised that those prosecutors eventually are not prosecuted themselves for defamation at least
