I've heard of the "incel" subculture, basically a bunch of creepy guys who can't get laid without resorting to rape and think they're entitled to sex.

As far as voluntary celibacy goes though, it seems to be a spiritual practice in cultures such as Christian monasticism or Eastern religion, supposedly as a way to get closer to God or to achieve enlightenment, or a form of ascetism or renunciation of worldly desires.

(The apostle Paul apparently advised that some men should not marry as well, which seems to be the basis for celibacies in the Catholic priesthood). Other philosophers such as Epicurus, and Arthur Schopenhauer also apparently advised against marriage.

I'm curious what your thoughts on voluntary celibacies are. (Some people blame this on molestation scandals in the Catholic Church).
