You are just demonstrating that you are unreasonable and blindly partisanStop what? These are the famous confederate Republican Redneck games. Republicans are proud of who they are and who they hate. It's not a secret.is it even possible anymore?
Thomas Jefferson said that the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of Patriots and tyrants from time to time
If I'm being honest, I'm almost there. Except I don't think we have a tyrant in charge, in fact, I'm THRILLED with our president.
There are many people, some whom I respect immensely, that are 180 degrees from where I am politically, that feel the same way.
14 years ago I won custody of a 13 month old baby girl & I was a small business owner starting out. Message boards became my social life & outlet - things are different now, I still have the girl and I still like message boards, but I'm in a better place.
But I have NEVER been this angry and ready for a fight.
Many of my friends on the left feel the same way.
So, how do we fix this?
OR are we at the point of no return?
Get rid of all the liberals. Give them free tickets to any socialist country of their choice.![]()

If we could just name bills with names like "A cesspool in every yard" and the "stop asking us to brush our teeth bill", you could win them over every time. Look how Republicans lie to them and they swallow it hook, line and sinker again and again. Maybe that's what we do when it comes to the GOP base. Just lie. It works for the Republican leadership.
If the mods don't want to stop this I will play you stupid asshole
And they lie. About everything. It's almost a chore to find something they don't lie about. And they are the laughingstock of the world. For following a fool.
Look at Trump's most recent lies:
The Paris accords will cost jobs and lower your standard of living. We know it's BS.
I will bring back jobs from overseas. What jobs? 87% of lost manufacturing jobs were automated. They don't exist anymore. They are never coming back.
Bring back clean coal. So many lies packed into one four word sentence. For one, coal is not clean and has never been clean. Many coal jobs have been automated. They aren't coming back. Other energy sources have been replacing coal. Trump and GOP want to take away healthcare for sick coal miners. We know that. It's no secret.
So instead of pissing and moaning that you are being mistreated, wise the f*cking up and learn something of value.
I disagree about the effects of supply side, but could get on board with your compromise suggestion to cut military and social spendingWe made a comittment to Supply Side economics thirty years ago. The idea was cut expenses at the top and jobs and prosperity would tricke down to all. It didn't work....they just kept the money
We need to abandon the failed supply side policies and return to higher rates at the top
As a compromise, we also need to cut spending on the military and social programs
Only way to balance a budget
I would wager you’re in the majority here in that aspect. You push buttons and maybe straddle “the line” from time to time but you don’t wish ill will to anyone. As GWB said to Gore one time, “I can’t wish you success, but I wish you well.”Pot met kettle.
I am happy to engage in serious and polite conversation with folks that demonstrate they are worth having a conversation with
there are several left leaning members of this forum that will attest to that
my thing is, I hate stupid people - I'd rather argue with an intelligent leftist that makes me think than have a "circle jerk" conversation with a stupid conservative
FWIW - there are a few conservatives on this forum that I just ignore, not with the "ignore" feature, but by simply not paying attention to them
stupid liberals? I enjoy pushing their buttons, won't even lie about it![]()
Well, I thought it was obvious. An informed electorate would be a good start. Having a President that doesn't declare he is using "alternative facts" or anything derogatory is "fake news" would be a good start too; the informed electorate would take care of the former come to think about it.
The only major change is the tenor of the discussion. Try to have a conversation about HRC with someone on the right wing and see how long it takes before the word "bitch" is brought up. Have your stopwatch handy.
see, I would submit to you that a statement like this is unhelpful in a conversation like this
I am asking how to come together & find common ground, telling me what you don't like about "my side" is a bad place to START - having said that, I do understand that you cannot work on a problem without addressing the problem
but getting started needs to be about what we can agree on; then we build trust with thoughtful communication, THEN we address our "laundry list" of complaints and see if there is a way to constructively address them...
And I'm assuring you that no such uncrossable gap exist; anymore than it did during the 1960's or especially 1860 for that matter.
It's funny you would say this because I have been thinking that we are more divided than we have been at any point since the War Between the States
the 1960's had some heated moments & divisiveness, but were really nowhere near as bad as what we see today (or in the 1860's)
I really do fear for my country right now - I am not sure we would survive a "shooting war" & every day that passes seems to make that type of conflict more & more plausible...
Lastly, it's worth noting that MANY of the responses ITT center around why the other side is "bad" & laying the blame with everyone who does not agree with them
not that surprising, but disappointing nevertheless; esp in the "clean" debate zone...
Does the tenor of the discussion create an atmosphere for respectful disagreement?
When you start with the word “bitch”, do you think anyone on the left is going to hear the rest of what is said?
I’m sorry if it doesn’t further our thread here but it is the Right Wing almost to a poster that engages in this sort of rough language.
The time has come to break the union up and a new two or three countries form out of the remnants. Go be happy.
is it even possible anymore?

I think all things go in cycles and this is a particularly nasty one. There is a lot of misinformation flying around that is fueling the fires of division. It is up to citizens to not take anything at face value. That does take work and therein lies the problem. America has become a sound byte, drive through, spare me the details nation. That's not good when it comes to politics especially when it has gotten this partisan.
My wife had a party with her faculty and grad students at our house last month. I asked her "Do you want me there, seriously?" As you might imagine they are all anti-Trump, Hillary supporters. But it worked out, only because not one word of politics was uttered. To me that is sad because I love to discuss concepts and debate but you just can't do that today. I hope that changes.
Does the tenor of the discussion create an atmosphere for respectful disagreement?
I hope so, that's certainly what I am going for ITT
When you start with the word “bitch”, do you think anyone on the left is going to hear the rest of what is said?
No, but I never went down that road ITT, I saw it done, but did not participate in hateful rhetoric in this discussion...
I’m sorry if it doesn’t further our thread here but it is the Right Wing almost to a poster that engages in this sort of rough language.
Yeah, I disagree vehemently on this
I rarely engage in nasty personal comments & I see a lot of it from both sides, I see more from the left on this forum - TBH it's probably a function of our own biases that we each notice offenses from "the other side" more frequently...
Easyis it even possible anymore?

The moderates need to take back America
America is being run from the extremes. There is no longer a political middle. Compromise is a crime
America was built on political compromise. The moderates of both parties need to abandon the extremists and form a coalition to make America great again

The globalist elite is getting the boot slowly but surely. In the US much but probably not most of the Blue Wall state bonds will be rated junk prior to the 2018 election. Lower federal and/or increasing state and local taxes will speed up the internal capital flight is growing at a compound rate anyway that will cause a few blue states to flip as well. So everybody just keep the pins in.
