exactly the shooting was justified. he should not have pushed it to go in . this lady was nuts. and he should not have acted the way he did after she was hot. he had no right to declare her dead.

He had no right to declare her dead, but he had every right to put a bullet in her head. You are a fking idiot.

she was armed with boiling water. she was going to throw it on him she was crazy.
I saw the police video. She was nine feet away, and nothing indicates she was going to throw the pan she was told she could pick up.

The officer spazzed and shot her dead. He will die in gen pop.

After reading about the prior 911 calls & mental health issues leading up to this call, it looks like the officers needed to take her in instead of retreating. The mental health pro's who were involved earlier said she was a danger to the public & refused treatment, so police had to get involved.

Donna Massey described her daughter's behavior and what she was experiencing. "The mental health people told me to call 911 because she could get in her car and kill herself or somebody. She's run a couple of red lights," she told dispatch.

"I don't want you guys to hurt her, please," she added.

Donna Massey told dispatch about not sending any "combative policemen who are prejudiced. I'm scared of the police. Sometimes they make (the situation) worse."

Talking to Springfield police at her mother's house about an hour later, Sonya Massey said she didn't want to seek treatment.

So Mom started playing the race cards knowing Sonya Massey was attempting suicide by police. The officers were set-up.

Even if all this was true, the police officer was still out of line.

If her mental illness was known to the Sheriff's Department, that makes his behavior even more egregious.

Mom wanted this to happen & started blaming racism far in advance. Police were set up for suicide by cop & mom had Ben Crump on speed dial to collect millions when it went down.

Wow, that's some white fragility right there.

"Mean old Ben Crump made cops shoot this woman!"
Idiot!

Woman threatening, then throwing pot of boiling hot water at police got her shot. People threatening or attacking police must be handled ASAP because they are a danger to everyone.

I doubt the officers knew of her condition prior to entry, but if they did they should have restrained her as soon as they entered or while she sat on the couch.

This happens to whites every day. Many whites are shot by police every day for same reasons. I don't fault sheriff for shooting my white cousin 3 times for the same reason & she was even married to the police chief at the time. We didn't even know she was in crisis prior to her attempted suicide by cop. But soon we found out as city clerk she was caught embezzling a large amount of money from the sewer fund.

My sweet white lady tenant next door is going down the same path. She has even upped her meds, but her anger issues are getting worse. She got a restraining order on husband last month. I saw her smash up his tool box & 4 wheeler in garage & told her to calm down before she makes things worse. Now police are tired of her crap & she is now pissed at them. A few days ago she broke her hand trying to punch through her car window. She had a cast on yesterday when she came over to pay rent. She has her daughter trying to get her into anger management class. It won't be long before someone takes her out.

Except she didn't throw the water, and the only reason why the pot was in her hand was because they told her to go over and turn it off.

They should have known if they have been called to the house in the past for these issues.

She absolutely did throw boiling hot water at police! We will see if "these" officers knew of her condition prior to entry.

This incident reminds me of this for some reason.

More proof you are a total idiot. You attacked the messenger & ignored the thrown pot of boiling water captured on video flying through the air.
That seems like a pretty fanciful interpretation by Officer Tom of what was happening there.

Clearly, the Police Union, the Police Department, and the State's Attorney didn't agree. They couldn't charge this fool fast enough.

I agree, at the very end Massey does throw the pot of water; however, at that distance it was not a real threat. I am fat and pushing 60 years old and I could have easily stepped out of the way. A young man in much better physical shape than I cop would have been impossible to hit.
