If you could immigrate or live for a short time in another country which ones would they be?

I revel in the atmosphere in Western Europe, with Germany, Austria, and Denmark at the top of my list.

I'm too old now, but if I were younger and single, I would go to Germany, total immersion.
Do you think Europe has a future? I feel it's only a matter of time—unless they get their act together, of course—before they become a Russian colony or satellite states

I do think Europe has a bright future.

I really don't see Russia taking over Europe or making them a Russian colony. I know news media often makes it appear this way, but I don't see that happening.

But really, I'm pretty happy where I am. Hard to do better, I think.

If you could live/work in another country for a period of years of even immigrate to that country, what countries would they be?

As a US citizen I often get bored and have dreams of working and living in another country either temporary on a visa, as a dual citizen, or immigrating to that country.

Countries I have thought about:

1. Canada - Truck driving jobs
2. Thailand - Teach English
3. China - Teach English
4.Vietnam - Teach English
5. Portugal
6. Germany
7. United Kingdom
8. Vietnam
9. Russia - Before the Russia/ Ukraine war started back in 2021 I had thought about the idea or working/living in Russia. Just for the experience temporarily. I thought about truck driving in Russia
10. Saudia Arabia - temporarily working on visa
Probably the Scottish Highlands.....as long as I can be back before winter arrives.

If anyone is thinking England or Scotland.

I've lived in England for 50 odd years since birth, then living in Scotland for the last 3 to 4 years. Girlfriend is Scottish. We both want to move to England as is miles better than Scotland.

I would love so much to visit England, but it comes down to money and me and my probably being on the lower end of middle class it is just a vacation we never in our lifetime could afford. I would love to live there if I could.

I was stationed in Iceland and couldn’t convince my wife to take advantage of a free flight from Keflavík to England. The flight was completely free—our only expense would’ve been hotel rooms. She refused to go. I did manage to get her to visit the Blue Lagoon a couple of times, but she didn’t like how the Icelandic women behaved, so we never went back. It felt like a golden opportunity that we missed. It would’ve cost us almost nothing, but we didn’t do it.

Some people believe that if a hypothetical civil war does occur in this country, and if far-left groups such as Antifa and others were to win, we may find ourselves as refugees in Argentina — which is probably the only country we could flee to in large numbers. That would only be possible if we're able to take our money with us. The left has many countries around the world where they feel at home, but for moderates and conservatives, there are only a few.

We could always go to Russia, but the thing is — who would want to? We're just the kind of people who love freedom too much, and there's too little of it there.

My late Uncle used to say in his old age, "Sometimes I think about travelling to India and just disappearing there."

My wife is from Peru and got her U.S. citizenship about 12 years ago. Realistically we may actually choose to retire in Peru, but that's still 12 years away. I don't have a lot of family left in the U.S., so there isn't much I'd be leaving behind as far as contacts and connections go.
