If you are experiencing a CRISIS that is affecting your how you pay your bills, does it make sense to go to family gathering?

Just completely ignored that I will have to spend money on a Uber to and from work on top of paying rent, bills, and food. But my situation is minor because its just me lol

Well there's not much you can do about it then, is there?

Just remember though, you'll miss them all when they're gone someday.

$600 is cheap?
do you live in a big city ? how far is the gathering from your home .. could you take a train .. maybe start a go fund me and tell your story .. you'd be surprised at how many people might send a buck or 2 and how quickly it can add up ! heck you might even get enough donations to get a used car !

You could probably get a little hoopty for almost nothing in Philly.

Those impound auctions they have you see some pretty cheap cars.

I am about to experience a financial crisis here in Philly because the public transportation system is about to reduce or eliminate service and raise the price. So I dont know how much Uber is going to cost during a time like this because a lot of people will be using it. So my mom asked me would I be interested in coming to a Labor Day cookout knowing I will have to spend tons of money to get to work everyday. So of course my answer was **** NO. lol Why would I go and sit and eat food with people not affecting by this crisis?
I used to love going to weddings, graduation parties, even house parties. All the free food. All I had to do was BYOB. But then we grew up and my sister in law told me I always have to bring something. A pie, cake, bottle of wine. If it's a wedding or graduation, it costs me $100.

If you are broke, don't go. Or have someone pick you up. Your mom can't pick you up? No other family member can pick you up?

Most people find a job from someone they know. It's not what you know it's who you know. So go to the party and have your elevator pitch ready on why you need a new job. Be positive. Someone might know someone who's hiring.

Did you vote for Trump? Did you see his shitty jobs numbers? Next year vote out the Republicans.

Family is the most important thing you can have. I would go and make them aware of your situation.
I was sick 3 years ago and didn't tell my family. But we hung out a lot. I made sure to hang with them a lot. It helped me through it. When I was cured, I told them. They said "you idiot why didn't you tell us we would have been there for you". I said "you were. You just didn't know it".

why be around people if u are not in a social mood?
If a person is depressed, do you think the solution is to isolate yourself?

Since my mom died my dad doesn't want to go anywhere. But he has fun whenever we force him to go.

after she said my situation is not as bad because I have no kids or a wife she might now see me until next year
She's got a point. I'm a SINK too. Single income no kids. And I have struggled sometimes since graduating college. You lose a job in a bad economy, then you lose another one. Now your resume looks like you can't keep a job. I couldn't find a good corporate sales gig. Lucky for me my mortgage was really low back then. I didn't over extend myself. I was going to buy a $150,000 house in 1995 but my dad talked me into buying a $60K condo on a lake. So when I lost jobs, unemployment paid my bills.

You need to

a. Find a better job. It's possible. Keep looking
b. Start saving. Both 401K and savings account so you can pay your bills if/when you lose a job.

I never asked my parents or brother for money but I know if I needed it, they would give it to me. But they did send me home with a lot of food every time I came over. That helped a lot.

I also started selling pot. Made $1600 a month doing that. Before they made it legal in MI.

I knew some leftist would bring politics into it. Trump on the brain.
