A leaked 19-page internal memo from
Michael Prescott, former independent adviser to the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee (EGSC), has accused
BBC Arabic of systemic bias in its coverage of the Israel-Gaza war. The dossier alleges the service minimized Israeli suffering, amplified Hamas propaganda, and operated with an editorial slant “considerably different” from the main English-language BBC website — despite both being required to uphold the same impartiality standards.
The memo, sent to all BBC Board members and now circulating in UK government departments, warns that BBC Arabic’s output risks undermining the BBC’s global role in countering disinformation — especially concerning given its partial funding by the Foreign Office via the World2020 programme.
