If a large complex of workers were present and to be clear a mining operation of that size would require several thousand people to be on site...... If hostilities broke out and there was any danger to the American citizens there it would be a legitimate reason to land troops with or without the UN Charter agreement.

There would be no danger because those workers would not be there at the start of hostilities. A phone would be made to made ahead of time to make certain that didn't happen.

When was there an agreement between Ukraine and NATO that their membership was the next order of business? Per NATO charter, a country cannot be allowed to join nato while their land is in dispute or they are at war. Let's not pretend that this was the reason why Putin invaded. In his interview with Tucker, he was asked this question directly, and he scolded Tucker for not being serious. After that he went on a 30 minute straight rant about how Russia had a historical claim to Ukraine.

No actually I'm not willing to see the military go in at all... All I'm saying is that Ukraine could have just as good of a guarantee with a mining operation on site as they would with a NATO backup or membership. And yes you completely correct about the financial implications none of this stuff is cheap. The mining operation would pay for itself of course but if we had to get involved militarily that would cancel out pretty quickly. It's time for people to realize that we are not a bottomless well of wealth we just aren't.

It wasn't. They invaded Crimea in 2014 and have been waging low level war in the Donbas since then.

This wasn't about NATO membership. It was about Putin thinking he could pull of a quick win with a new US president and an undermined NATO.
