I am two to four % black. Found that out two years ago through Ancestry and the findings have been repeated.

That means if I can find a slave ancestor, I can qualify for reparations.

Many whites in the American frontier started out with nothing but a mule and 40 acres, and became successful farmers and ranchers until their descendents finally sold their forty acres, plus whatever other land they acquired to a developer for millions.

I'm white but when it comes to reparations, I see it as being more than just about slavery. There's that whole era of discrimination that went on after the end of reconstruction period.

As far as reparations in the form of cash, economic researchers cite that 97% to 99% of Black consumer spending ends up in the hands of non-Black corporations.

I've heard it said that the best investment one could make was to invest in yourself. Given that, programs such as the United Negro College Fund seem worthwhile. According to their website UNCF each year provides $62million in scholarships.

I strongly disagree with just handing out money. However, as you point out, the idea is to fix a problem and investing in the future is one way to do it.

As it is now, only about 8% of all public school funding is federal. The rest is state and county. Increasing the federal funding to raise all schools to the same level of quality would benefit the nation as a whole.

The Democrats are famous for giving away money such as their "free college" proposal a few years back. Biden forgiving college debt is one example. I am completely against both ideas for the same reason. It's a bad precedent. Better to offer some kind of program where young people can earn college such as joining the military, Peace Corps or some other program where they can earn a year of college for every two years of service. Allow online studies for college credits up to an AA degree. This would be open to everyone but a person who does their four years of service could complete their four-year degree with the two years they earned and having completed an AA degree while in the service. This also should apply to VoTech training although a lot of skills can be learned while serving the nation.

FWIW, I earned a masters degree in the service; 3/4s paid for by the service, I paid the remaining quarter and books. It entailed an additional two years of military service.

There's also the problem of blended ancestry. In addition, some of my Irish and Scottish ancestors were dragged over as indentured servants then left here. How to fix that? LOL
