that depends, people made sure Cain was thrown out because of affairs, if MLKs came to light, could you say its okay for one candidant and not the other? Would you vote for MLK based on what criteria? Just because hes black? Because he gives good speeches? What would be the cause for such a promotion?

Just because Obama got in because of lack of creditenials and in my opinion the left just wants to downgrade this postiion and pretty much proved they will give it to anyone for any means, would we as conservatives do the same just to get our guy in? I would hope we wouldnt.

Youd have to show me why MLK deserves such a position, and than bring up his background and lay down the foundation if its okay for him, but not other people.

I don't know if I would vote for him or not. Depended on what he had to say. Voting for somebody just because of who they are is pretty lame.

Would you have voted for him?? Let's say he was running today, would he get your vote. He would certainly have mine.

If MLK ran today, the election would be all about his mistresses, his socialism, his drug use, and his ties to domestic terrorists. His pacifism would be used against him in the foreign affairs debates.

I would have to hear his stances on the economy, foreign policy, trade, etc. Would he have my vote simply because of his work with civil rights? As much as I respect his work in that regard, no.

There is absolutely NOTHING the guy ever did that remotely suggests he would be qualified to be President. NOTHING. At least Herman Cain ran a pizza business.

Mmmmmm, pizza

All you have to do is look at the body of work by Andrew Young and Jesse Jackson to know where MLK would stand on the issues.

Far left. Far, far left.

MLK did more for civil rights than any previous advocate!! He was an excellent speaker and really believed in his fellow man. He also believed peaceful resolutions were the best answer. He was a strong advocate for the little guy, the underdog and the oppressed.

He'd have my vote in a heart beat!!

if Idi Amin was running for president black people would vote for him rather than Jesus Christ

Black people voted for Marion Berry for mayor of DC after he got out of prison and Jesse Jackson Jr. has a hefty lead for his reelection and he's not even active.

No I would not vote for MKL. I remember him quite well and he was too heavily influenced by communisim.

He did, yes. But there have been a lot of great men and women throughout history who have done great things, but may not have made a great president. Just because I agree with his stance on civil rights and applaud his efforts does not mean I would necessarily agree with his positions on taxation, or regulations, or trade and tarriffs, etc.

Right...which is pretty much what I would expect but I choose not to judge MLK on the actions of Jackson and Young

And exactly how is that different from Comrade Obama?

I do see some similarity, not much but I don't believe MLK was a communist.

I guess it would come down to who he was running against, and what they had to say... Although going strictly by what he said, I'm fairly sure I'd have voted for him.

If you had asked this question several years ago, the answer would be yes, today it's no and it has nothing to do with Obama. It's that I have since learned that MLK Jr wasn't really into equality. He believed in affirmative action an IMO that's not treating people equally.
