For countless millennia mankind suffered under the iron boot heel of religious tyranny, often forced down upon the "little" people through governments which claimed to be themselves personally ordained, propped up and sanctified by various Gods. So it is no wonder then that at some point burgeoning science, religion's great nemesis, would come up with a "religious" text of its own, based upon an alternative explanation for the creation of our world and all things in it. Personally, I believe the theory of evolution and all its associated facets to be utter bullshit. The much more likely answer, which asks so many other questions itself when asked, is that mankind has no bloody idea how it originated or how sentient beings came to be. We just don't know. We might never know. If people want to peaceably believe in the religions of evolution, Christianity, Islam or whatever else, then let them. I prefer the Christian explanation for how we all got here simply because in doing so I am returning to the roots of my forefathers and doing that lends me some comfort amidst the endless madness of our modern world.
