So, theoretically the six months in prison if convicted, might be as much as a year or more, in jail, just to get a hearing (without bail), and that is not even a trial. So, this misdemeanor federal civil offense, could easily entail felony level length of time in some place like Alligator Alcatraz, just for coming here to do lawn work or roof houses.

They can just allow themselves to be deported and save themselves the time in jail, right?

Maybe, maybe not. It is kind of a catch 22. They have to get to a hearing, and possibly even post and Exit Bond (one of the two types of bonds that get them out) and according to the law, at that point pay their own way out of the country. Yes. Sounds ludicrous, and not in keeping with what the president has said publicly. It must be noted here though, there could be executive orders (not laws) that cut through the BS and get them the hell out of here, if willing to go. I don't know. Have research whatever EO could be in place. But, if you go by the laws, themselves and take into account immigration courts are over a year backed up, with all the mass detainees for the mass deportations, and the fact, the government nor the court is under any obligation to grant bail, as not applicable to immigration, those that are actual illegals, even if just fruit pickers, roofers, not to mention between 5% and 13% of the illegal aliens detain actual previous convicted FELONS and theirs is an even more complicate path, but each one being even more complications to an immigration court system stretched to limit (Not that I give a rats ass about convicted the felons themselves) but recognize the added strain on the system.

Here's a nugget for you, old man. What if somebody (who could easily see the upcoming strain on system with the mass deportation plan) actually explained it to Trump, months ago, when or before he was talking up Self-Deportation? He could have been talking it up, knowing what a clusterfuck an illegal was going to subject themself to once the system came under this kind of pressure from the sheer numbers, and the months or possibly years, they could spend in substandard prison, just to get a hearing to get kicked out of the country? You know, that I don't give the asshole credit for much. But, if somebody explained this two him, back then, this might be exactly what he planned to happen, knowing how it would impact them, if they waited to self-deport. MAGA Morons talk about trump playing multilevel chess, (though he is generally incapable of it) but this could be their clearest example. Self-deportation sounds better and better every day. It is time for the ones that have anything and have made anything, to transfer it to their legal citizen kids and beat feet for the border, while they can pick where they land. If one is an illegal alien, you definitely do not want to be caught up in the overburdened understaffed system. If you are a new lawyer, you do not want a job in the federal immigration courts, as the pay simply isn't worth the load.

If these illegals have a deportation order, the hearing they get is, " Welcome to the ICE detention facility. We will be deporting you shortly. Have a nice ******* day!".

Correct except for the "shortly". They would be lucky if it is shortly, as no telling when the will get a hearing to get out or be deported and there is no legal deportation without a hearing, eh, whenever they can get to it.

Bullshit! Most have already had their hearing and received a final order of deportation. They didn't show up, so they get a default judgement. You really are working hard for that mental disability rating for your Social Security.
