What part of "approximately 73%, have no criminal convictions at all." according to the CATO institute do you not understand? Or have you found some obscure right-wing site saying different? I gave my reference in the post you are trying to disagree with. Where is your reference link? A misdemeanor is a lesser criminal act that is generally punished less severely than a felony, typically with penalties such as up to one year in jail, fines, or community service.

Trump's recording of scheduled legal payments to that woman who extorted him was not only legal, but at worst a misdemeanor too, an expired one long past the statute of limitations, yet Trump almost went to federal prison over it and lost his business and a fortune over it just because some prosecutor twisted it into a novel theory based on the unproven assumption that Trump did it all to throw an election, when in fact, SHE chose the timing of the event.

A crime is a crime and crimes by illegal undocumented invading interlopers are more serious than normal crimes because we do not even know who these people are, that they are here, so cannot tax them, cannot put them in our system, they have no address, so could be anywhere doing anything, maybe a chinese or Iranian spy or agent, a gang member, or terrorist of mass destruction. Only a fool assumes the best.

A country without borders is no country at all, just ask the people who have waited now for months for the Pakistani to open their borders just to let them cross. And what did my sign say? $5,000 fine? And that photo is years old, probably more like $10,000 now. Doesn't sound very misdemeanor to me.

Yes, I am well aware of The federal statute against illegal border crossing being 8 U.S.C. § 1325, which makes unlawful entry into the United States a misdemeanor for the first offense, but a felon for subsequent border crossing offenses.

I am just not aware of any other misdemeanor offenses that can basically see you thrown in hell hole prison, without visitation, without a trial and kept there on an open ended basis for the government without bail, or lawyer, and that sometimes see the government ignore habeas orders from Federal judges.

No. I am glad he has apperently closed the border, Joe Biden never should have opened in the first place. But, it must be remembered when you accurately list it as a crime, it is by law a civil misdemeanor. How about, next time you get a speeding ticket in a national park, they jerk you out of your car at gunpoint, hand cuff you, send you to Alligator Alcatraz to await a hearing with no bail, even if you have never committed a felony in your life? Is that how misdemeanors are handled in your city? This high profile, violent masked combat goon squad approach to entertain the MAGA morons has got to go. Never mind that if someone is sneaking across the border to invade us furtively, it can only be for either of TWO REASONS:

1. They either cannot afford nor wait to migrate here legally, they are impoverished and on the lam.
2. They don't WANT to migrate here legally, aboveboard, out in the open where they might be identified and stopped.

The first is a welfare public liability risk. The latter is a national security risk. Either way, America loses.
