It was...at first. GW took the fight to where it belonged the most and at first we had a lot of goodwill there from people who were glad to be out from under the yoke of the Taliban. We'll never know how much progress we might have been able to make there if the neocons hadn't steered us towards invading/occupying Iraq (where the fight wasn't). Maybe we wouldn't have achieved anymore there than we already have.


But again, we'll never know...
