Human life exists before during and after fertilization. That doesn't create a sentient human. A zygote is no more sentient than bacteria. Not a person.------ yet.

I can't remember all the times I've said... un-Christian-sounding things about this or that person (mostly those in the political realm), but I remember one time a day or 2 ago: I called Maxine Waters a scary witch. Well, I was being honest w/ how i view things, but what I'm mostly repenting of now is having such a bad attitude toward her-- when really it is her POLICIES I hate, like her policy of encouraging people to harass Republicans when they are at restaurants and other places (couple years ago). I hated that. But I can't hate her because, even though it's (very) hard to remember this, God made that person.

I know... I almost feel like laughing when I say that because these elite liberals act like they've lost their "made in God's image" thing and have even become demons.

Well, God didn't make them demons, they chose to be that. It's difficult (to impossible) to see a residual of God's image there..

But as long these people are alive, there is hope that they will come to their senses.

If they hear a lot of hate from "the other side" of the aisle, well, that's not going to help... will likely just inspire them to double down on their evil ways.

We just have to remind ourselves that Jesus died for everyone - and doesn't want anyone to remain in their sins and end up in Hell.

I said a prayer for her as a penance for having such a hostile attitude toward her and the amazing thing was... I could feel that prayer actually doing something good... (I didn't expect to feel that)

Life is a continuum, but that's no reason to ass **** the science like you are doing. The egg has the DNA of the mother. The sperm has the DNA of the father. The zygote has DNA that is genetically different than the mother and the father. The egg is not a living being. The sperm is not a living being. The zygote is a living being. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? It's taught in every embryology textbook.

Where does "value" enter into any of these facts?

Biology is not the only thing I consider in this matter.

This is progress. I don't really care if you support or oppose abortion. I only care that you state the facts correctly. But I can't help noticing how you are still trying to make a moral argument that abortion is fair. It's not fair.

When did I say abortion wasn't or was fair? You are assuming facts not in evidence. You are the one trying to make the argument that abortion is fair, just and moral because you can't accept not being seen as fair, just and moral. I have made no moral argument. The only argument I have made is that science has proven that human life begins at conception.

Yes, fairness is absolutely a moral concept reserved for higher intelligence. Wolves don't see anything fair or unfair with eating sheep.

I love eating a good steak and all other sorts of animal proteins. Is it fair to the animals that I eat? No. Do I need to justify my eating animal proteins as being good, just and moral? No. I do not. I will freely admit that I am not a good or just or moral person for doing so. I will freely admit that I am selfish for doing so.

I'm not like you. I don't need to rationalize my actions as being good, fair or just. I am free to see reality. You are not.

One of the homilies I listened to on Sunday brought up Copernicus. His point is do we see God revolving around us...or do we see ourselves revolving around God.

For those who hold no belief in God, let's use life as our example. Should we see life as revolving around us/the individual...or is the correct perspective that our position is to revolve around life?

Consider: If we on earth decided it was in our best interest for the sun revolve around earth, and we took steps to try and make this happen...what would be the ultimate results? In the same way, if the human position is revolve around life, and we endeavor to make life revolve around us...what are the ultimate results?

Using Copernicus, I have been looking at this question using many examples. The one I have yet to figure out is government. Should government revolve around the individual....Or, should the individual revolve around the government? So far, my conclusion tends towards neither--and therefore no government needed!

It is both, the government should revolve around the individual, that is democracy. Government is (or at least should be) a reflection of society so the individual should revolve around the government.
