It appears that what you are saying is that although the Dems completely disregarded the concepts of fairness, due process, representation, and the right to confront one's accuser in the House Farce, it's somehow reprehensible that McConnell wants to use basically the same rules as used for the Clinton impeachment and to not have the House takeover the Senate.

What's happening right now is that the demodumbasses are attempting to change the rules by getting more witness testimony to hopefully bolster their ridiculous case. However, McConnell is holding their feet to the fire forcing them to present their case before any more witness testimony is heard.
The issue is they had no real reason to be there in the first place presenting a case of impeachment when they have never really had one.
In short, he's calling their bluff and telling them to lay their cards on the table but they want to keep bluffing because they damn well know when the hand is done, that they are done. Again!

Exactly. Dems starting planning impeachment in November of 2016. Hard to believe they didn't have enough witnesses when this thing was in the House.

Show me any other trial in the land where the prosecution doesn't have to first present their case to the court before the trial gets under way. Their only problem is they don't have a case to present and they damn well know it. Ts important to remember that Schumer is not denying witness testimony, he's only tabling that until after the trial gets under way as it should. But first they have to state their case to justify being there in t,he first place, just like any other trial is conducted.

They decided to forgo issuing subpeonas for witnesses, and instead created a fake crime of "Obstruction of Congress". They voted on their cooked up fake impeachment charges. And now, it is the Senate's role to hold a hearing. The House gets to present its case; it is not the role of the Senate to do a new investigation for them.

Get a grip.

they didn’t forgo subpoenas. They issued them and they were either ignored or they were sued... so the Dems went with what they go and are now pursuing the docs and witnesses in the senate trial

The amendments were designed to drag the process out as far as possible, add new charges not part of the articles, and basically make the whole thing a shit show. If they allowed one side to bring in new evidence, they would have opened a floodgate.

The House was supposed to make it's case via the articles themselves, not with added bullshit afterwards.

I think it completely reasonable for the senate to allow the subpoena of documents and witnesses. Also very reasonable to let a Republican appointed Supreme Court justice determine whether witnesses are material or not. The fact that the Reps blocked that completely shows their cards.

I hope by now you have changed your mind, if only based on the fact that House Impeachment Managers arrived in the US Senate - after weeks of Speaker Pelosi holding it up - only to tell the US Senate it CAN NOT / WILL NOT present the EXISTING case / information on which they based / justified their vote to Impeach the President.

The Democrats voted to Impeach the President based on a set of existing information - not on other currently non-existent things that 'MIGHT be out there'. They claim there is much more 'out there'...but they did not - hopefully - vote to Impeach the President of the United States based on the belief that there is 'more out there' they did not find / did not have.

The US Senate is asking the House Impeachment Managers to SHOW US WHAT YOU BASED YOUR VOTE TO IMPEACH ON...

The EXISTING case / information that was the basis of their vote to Impeach the President either warrants Impeachment or it does NOT. They claim that it did / does.....THEN SHOW THAT INFORMATION!

The fact that the House Democrats are unable / unwilling to do that is enough to dismiss their Articles of impeachment because it shows they do not have anything substantial to present that proves their case / justifies their Impeachment of the united States.

i don’t think Trump should be impeached but if you really think the accusations against him are a hoax or that there was no wrong doing then you aren’t seeing clearly. What Trump did was wrong, he deserves to be called out for it. The lies being told to cover it up are pathetic and embarrassing for both Trump and the Republicans. We all know what went down. You are not thinking clearly. No evidence has been presented in support of the accusation that he initiated the investigation of Biden to serve his own political interests. If he did it for other reasons, it was not an abuse of power. In any case, since everyone always knew this would not result in a conviction, the whole thing was nothing but a political stunt from the start.

You don't find it the eensey weensiest suspicious that all the Democrats have now are new charges, not the ones they used for the past three years that they know won't take over 10 seconds to refute by the facts, and their time-wasting effort to delay public opinion until just the right frickin' minute to powder their base with explosives goes as planned?

The Senate is the wrong venue for that. If they wanted to pursue the subpoenas they should have gone to the Courts.

I’ve been pretty outspoken on how bad of an idea I thought this impeachment move would be for our government and our country. I saw the transition from the House to the Republican controlled Senate bringing a change in focus from Trumps actions to Biden corruption. It doesn’t appear that the Republicans are taking that route. It is very clear that the Republicans are not interested in finding the truth, seeing the facts, or even allowing the Dems to use the facts to present their case. They seem to just want to defend the president and dismiss the case. It stinks to high heaven and coming from somebody who doesn’t think Trump should be impeached I will say this path that Trump and the Reps are going down is looking more and more like a dirty cover up. When I first heard the Dems use that term it sounded like political hyperbole... After day 1 it’s sounding pretty spot on

The Rules were Voted in Unanimously 100-0. What you saw was Democrats submitting Amendments to change The Rules in their favor that they earlier voted for 100-0.

Nothing worth discussing after that fact.

WTF? I thought The House conducted a FULL and THOROUGH INQUIRY, that they Gaveled, Voted on The Articles, and Deemed The Evidence Complete, their work so WELL DONE, that

"THE Evidence was Alarming, Damning, Incontrovertible, Irrefutable, Shocking, and SO OVERWHELMING, that it was an URGENT MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY, and That WE IMMEDIATELY HAD TO IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT HAVING NO CHOICE BUT TO SAVE THE REPUBLIC"

At any rate the rules were voted on 100-0 unanimously so what is your issue? That is isn't bipartisan?

Clear Documentation and Witnesses were Presented in THE HOUSE, and THE HOUSE SAID SO. IT was OVERWHELMING AND INCONTROVERTIBLE, DAMNING AND IRREFUTABLE, so much so, they had no choice and could reach no other remedy but impeachment and removal from office as quickly as possible, because the election was coming and they just can't have Trump on The Ballot, because what if THE PEOPLE Re-Elect him? This isn't a free for all. This is a trial to address the actions of the House of Representatives. The impeachment trial was the place for witnesses and documentation. And of course it is going to be dismissed, in the exact manner the Democrats dismissed Biden's blatant and braggadocio quid pro quo:

No, they didn't. For the subpeonas to be valid, the entire House had to formally vote to approve the impeachment inquiry. They didn't.

The House Impeachment Managers' claim that there MIGHT be evidence against the President 'out there' - they just have to look for it - is IRRELEVANT and has NOTHING to do with the existing case, the existing information they had that led them to Impeach the President.

It was based on THAT information that the House Democrats voted to Impeach, and it is now up to the House Impeachment Managers to present THAT information, THAT case, to prove / justify their vote to Impeach was warranted or not.

The Democrats refuse to do that.

In doing so, they prove the testimony of Democrat Constitutional Expert Jonathon Turley, testifying before the House Judiciary Committee during the House Impeachment, to be true. Turley testified that the President did NOT violate the Constitution, that he did NOT break the law, and that he did NOT abuse his power. He went on to add that the only ones who have done so and continue to do so are DEMOCRATS.
