I found this shocking. Why do so many Jews in Israel wish to leave?

A whopping 27% of the Jewish population of Israel would leave the country if they could, according to a survey conducted for Masa Israeli – Israeli Roots Odyssey on the eve of its fourth conference to be held at the Knesset Monday.

The highest rate of those who wish to leave was among secular Jews, where 36% said they would have left.

Over and over we see Israel's posters tell us about "the Jewish people," and their "rights to self-determination," especially in "their ancestral homeland," but from the looks of things, the Jewish people do NOT see this as a settled matter.

Most Jews have still not yet moved to Israel and over a quarter of the ones who have, wish to leave. But, they cannot?

Furthermore, not only is there a large segment of Jews who today are anti-Zionist, but from the beginning, prominent Jews, both religious and secular, opposed the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine and even warned everyone that was willing to listen.

Does anyone wish to share any insight on this? Thanks in advance.

survey’s data attest to “a problem in the sense of identity, connection and belonging to the nation, the land and the state in a growing group in the State of Israel, and it is a reality which is already creating a tear and a split in Israel’s society as a whole

The insight is in Your links:

"The survey identified a profile of an Israeli Jew wishing to leave the country: a secular male who is not in a relationship (bachelor, divorced, or widower), ages 23 – 29."

Many Israelis after serving int the army and getting a degree - go abroad to start lucrative businesses.
It's not exactly LEAVING.

Q. What is the percentage of left-wingers in Israel, who think Jews cause all the problems Arabs have with them?

Shocking? Heck if I were surrounded by Palestinians wanting to kill me, I too would want to leave. Wouldn't you?

No, and this is a good point. Why on earth would anyone want to live and even raise children in such an environment? It is the most senseless part of this whole "conflict."

I see your leftist antisemtism is projecting. No most Jews are not antiZionist, because antiZionism is really antisemitism.

First the number are well overblown. Survey 100 people and say it reflects the whole is the problem with every one of these so called surveys. Yea 100 people that is it.

Second, it is like any western country many desire to see other places, why should Israel be any different?

Third, like any very successful first world industrialized nation they have problems with the cost of living. It is very high and property prices are high also. Lazy liberal which Israel has want everything for free. They believe they will get that other places. Stupid liberals.

Fourth, see where they want to go - the US! Many people want to come here from all over the world. Why should Israel be any different?

Fifth, Israel has a problem of too many people immigrating vs emigrating. So take your self-righteousness and shove it up your ass.

Sixth, most Jews haven’t immigrated to Israel because the vast majority of the diaspora is in
the US and we Jews consider ourselves first and foremost Americans. We love this country more than most of you bedwetters. We have been very successful and have done a ton more for her economic success than losers like LARam fan.

Lastly, I guarantee emigration desires is 1000 folder higher in every shithole Islamic country so again take your antisemitism and shove it up your ass.

I wonder how many people would like to leave places like Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Too bad we will never know. At least in Israel, people can still give their opinions without fear.

You really are a a true retard. Honestly get an education because your ignorance is truly astonishing.

There is nothing that prevents Jews from leaving Israel. It is just as easy to leave as any any free open society.

Now go fuck yourself

Court Jurisdiction: Civil and religious courts in Israel actively exercise their authority to bar certain individuals, including nonresidents, from leaving the country until debts or other legal claims against them are resolved. Israel's religious courts exercise jurisdiction over all citizens and residents of Israel in cases of marriage, divorce, child custody, and child support. U.S. citizens should be aware that they might be subject to involuntary and prolonged stays in Israel if a case is filed against them in a religious court, even if their marriage took place in the United States and regardless of whether their spouse is present in Israel.

According to this article from Israel:

In her opinion, Israel’s finest sons and daughters are the ones leaving the country. “They are good, high-quality people who can contribute -- from doctors and nurses to engineers. The emigration phenomenon here was once branded ‘a fallout of cowards’ [by Yitzhak Rabin], but these days the people who are leaving are talented. They stand out abroad. They are considered smart and successful compared to the Canadians. Many don’t come back.”

But, I have to wonder how many leave simply for reasons concerning their morality.

And she just did it again...
The narrative was and continues to be that the presence and sovereignty of Jews on "Palestinian land" is an attack of itself. It is not then and it isn't now. What the Arabs are trying to do now is not "defend themselves" -- its to deny sovereignty of the Jewish people over any part of the land. And that IS an attack on the Jewish people

Is it time we can at least agree that the Zionists do not speak for the "Jewish people?"

You have no right AT ALL to decide who speaks for the Jewish people.

There is no difference, collectively, between "Zionists" and the Jewish people. The only ones who make that false distinction are those who are antisemitic but wish to appear not to be.
