I don't know the title or author!!

Hello Duckies!!
I don't know if any of you can help me with this, but I am looking for this book that I read back in....I don't know...1991 or something?? I had actually found the book without a cover, but I know the title and author were on it somewhere?? All I know is that it was about some girl who was all grown up with a family, but had a secret she'd been keeping for a long time.

A long time ago, she used to be very unattractive and she was impregnated(<-I think that's how it's spelled??) and she gave birth to the child in the woods and buried it. Anyway...years later, her daughter and a friend are in the woods collecting leaves for some school project when they see a little girl (about the same age as them) and she disappears by the tree of where she was buried. Well...the plot of it is that the little girl starts killing everyone that was involved with knowing about the birth and killing of her and at the end, I think it was the mother who was the killer in the end (or something like that?). Anyhow..I know it's a long shot so I thought I would ask you all.

I have thought about it being a book by VC Andrews, but none of titles ring a bell or give a synopsis of what the stories are about.

Funny, that is what I was going to say too: sounds like VC Andrews. Perhaps you can find her email address, many authors now have them; give the synopsis and if she didn't write, she could probably tell you who did.

wasn't there a similar movie recently? in it, the girl was put in a well and she haunted people through a video. it was a strange movie. everybody that watched the video eventually dies.

That movie was called THE RING.

No it wasn't "the ring". I want to say that the author was a female and the title had something like "cry in the woods or something similar". I'll keep looking and ask a librarian. I don't think it was a very popular book, but it was one that I did enjoy and I would like to read again. Thanks for all your imput!! You are all a super bunch!!
