(1) Although not many people have had a similar experience, I always thought that her psychological recovery was inordinately slow. Physically, she could have been back on the courts within a month, but she became paranoid.
(2) I strikes me now when I see tapes of the girls of her era that they actually look like girls playing tennis. Now, between the ridiculous outfits, the screaming, and mind-bendingly conservative style of play, there are very few who are worth watching. From a personal standpoint, I like KoKo Vandeweghe. She is often her own worst enemy, but she has great weapons and tries to use them.
(3) I'm always astounded by how flabby many of the women players are. With all that activity, you would expect them to be extremely lean, but most of them would be embarrassed to put on a two-piece bathing suit. Or they should be.
