Texas started this round... Before this GOP had more gerrymandered districts than Dems... Dems were the ones asking for independent boundary bodies.

“This round” …. In your own post, that means the fight has been ongoing. This round vs that round is insignificant. Republicans are no more at fault than Democrats. The numbers in the blue states match what Texas and Florida are doing.

Have you seen the "Trump Country" maps. Showing red and blue by county, with states being over 90% red, with a few blue areas. And from this they conclude how popular Trump is.
But they discount that the blue areas, represent urban centers with dense populations and many more people, than in the rural red areas covering lots of acreage but having far fewer people.

Of course republicans have a solution to gerrymander their house representation.
