Finnish is not my first language either. “Kuradi raisk” are the Finnish words that I know, which put together mean something like “**** me sideways” and some even say they are not quite Finnish but Estonian, but anyway, do you think Finns would understand me right if I tried to convince them of something using my current quite specific and limited Finnish vocabulary?

As for the Monarchy, they're purely constitutional and not absolute. So the leader is the prime minister. The Queen just undertakes various official, ceremonial, diplomatic and representational duties. I thought everyone knew that, obviously not.

60 Minutes did a show on the Finns once. A normal day in Helsinki looks like a day of national mourning. They’re all walking around or sitting on buses looking deeply morose and ruminating about something deep in their souls.

And there’s the intense passion for dancing the tango. And they look gloomy when they’re doing that.
