Hydrants without water in Cali

They had many areas last night with no water.

By 3 a.m. Wednesday, all water storage tanks in the Palisades area “went dry,” diminishing the flow of water from hydrants in higher elevations, said Janisse Quiñones, chief executive and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the city’s utility.

The owner of dozens of real-estate holdings in Southern California, including the Palisades Village mall, Caruso called the issue a “systemic problem of the city” and said that “our infrastructure is old,” the Los Angeles Times reported.

The L.A. Councilmember who represents the Palisades, Traci Park, also blasted DWP, calling the hydrant issue a “chronic under-investment in the city of Los Angeles,” according to The Times.

It is a huge fire. Massive, man can not put it out.
Agree, so why are they dumping water on a house that has burned almost completely and not protecting the untouched house next door. Sounds like a waste of water to me.

From what I learned about firefighting is that if the house is a total loss, just protect other properties to keep it from spreading.

A fire down the street from my son was intentionally set on fire by the crazy person living there. When the fire department got there, they found out she was not in the home, and it was fully involved. The houses are so close together, they kept the damage to the two adjacent houses to a minimum by keeping the fire contained as much as possible to the main house, which burnt to the ground. the other house survived with minimal damage.

Elecktra says the media is lying.
They are. One dumbass news anchor said that the reports that firefighters had no water was untrue, they then cut to their reporter in the field and she refuted his claim immediately.

California has stopped control burning and clearing land for years to appease the environmentalists, and the result is bigger and more standing fuel for uncontrollable fires.Nestles has been siphoning water out of the area for a century and finally was stopped, at least on paper. Allowed by corrupt administrators there. That weakened the woodlands and contributes to intense fires. Think about that when Newsome wants to sit in the Big House. Now he has to protect the looters in LA who are in serious jeopardy. California orders Nestlé to stop siphoning spring water - High Country News

If California had to spend 100 billion dollars on environmental infrastructure than it should instead of the money it has wasted. It will still not stop mother nature acting up. It will improve things immensely.

Utter bullshit...

Most tof the forestry in California is under Private or Federal Control. The State controls only about 20%...

Environmentalists want controlled burning and logging. Logging allows to take the carbon off the land and treat it and use in construction... This banks the carbon, letting rot just puts it back in the atmostphere...

"Controlled burns are seen by forest ecologists as perhaps the most essential tool for reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire and helping to undo a century of fire suppression policy that has worsened wildfire conditions that now annually wreak havoc across large swaths of the We"
.

This is not to say there aren't idiot Environmentalists who know little about land management. There are also pro business that want to built wooden houses too close to wildfire zones too...

This is the problem with MAGA and far left... Rather than look at actual reasons and how things could be improved, it turns into how can we blame the other side...

MAGA are have spent almost 6 pages of how can we blame this on Democrats... Fuck the problem, everything has to be about blaming Democrats...

California has allowed the buildup of carbon storage on fire at risk wind whipped land, regardless of which entity did it. There have always been fires there, but there have been houses and buildings where there were none a century ago. Like the New Orleans building below sea level, bad things are going to happen, and mismanagement makes it worse.

Democrat government failed.

The blame lies with Democrats right here, faggot:
"
the Presidential Memorandum of Octo-
ber 19, 2018 (Promoting the Reliable Supply and Delivery of Water in
the West), and the Presidential Memorandum of February 19, 2020 (Devel-
oping and Delivering More Water Supplies in California), are hereby revoked."

Check the date on that. :poke:
It also proves what Ted said to be a lie.

If you took the time to read the posts before whining about "blaming democrats" you should have noticed that Newsom's policies contributed to the problem...a lack of firefighting water. Apparently Newsom closed 3-reservoirs instead of adding 3-reservoirs and adequate hydrant capacity. The LA mayor cut the Fire Department budget by $17m instead of having adequate air drop capacity.

You should be accepting the blame instead of whining about it.

Another stupid CA policy is limiting fire insurance premiums causing insurance companies to cancel policies, whereby many of the homes destroyed by fire are uninsured. Accept the blame instead of whining about it.

FIX THE PROBLEMS INSTEAD OF WHINING ABOUT THEM.

They are ultimately responsible because it is their state. You can't change that.

Regarding insurance, there is no reason those companies should cover dwellings in brush choked canyons where fire fighting is a losing battle at best. People choose to live there against all reason in structures that cannot be fireproofed.
Why would a company indemnify such foolishness?
These issues are compounded by state and local governments that not only encourage such behavior, they require it.
