The exit under Trump would have been May and Biden became President in January and promptly did away with everything Trump had put into place. So no matter what Trump had planned, had he planned at all, was all for not after Biden was inaugurated. Then Biden, wisely moved it from May to September because he wasn't prepared in May.

Trump had no plan. Just like Trump had no plan for dispensing COVID vaccinations.

Before the election Trump promised to get all the soldiers out of Afghanistan by Christmas. So any Trump plan would have had to be place before Christmas 2020, and not wait until May 2021.

The agreement to withdraw from Afghanistan was scheduled to be completed May of 2021. Trump had been drawing down for the year. So according to the agreement the US was obligated until May.

You pointed out an important thing about the agreement. It was for the withdrawal of our troops, not the withdrawal of Americans from the country.

Trump never had a plan to get Americans, or the Afghans who helped us, out of the country.
