This is something I've been saying for years. The fourth, unaccountable branch of the US government.

Each year, unelected government bureaucrats impose thousands of new laws on Americans -- all without a single vote from Congress.

And it's all there 7 days a week for all Americans to see – if they'd open their eyes. It's called The Federal Register and it goes on for page after page with announcements and proposed rules and regulations and calls for input. As long as they are ignored, nothing will ever change.

We blame the various administrations but these bureaucrats outlast president after president. They only leave upon reaching retirement and then pass their legacy on to their minions.

it's the end result of more and more centralization of power. We need another round of civil service reform. The original reforms during the patronage era were needed, but the protections given to the civil service have become to entrenched and overreaching.
