Why diminish the value of the SAT? it is highly predictive of college success.

CA quit using it. Now the profs are whining because the unqualified students aren't being weeded out and they are having to teach middle school arithmetic to college students. The faculties want the SAT back. LOL progressives. SMFH

They quit using it because blacks were getting accepted with lower SAT scores than whites who were rejected, and it became hard to explain away. So they got rid of the requirement.

My IQ was tested twice, once when I was about 12 and once when I was about 35. Both times it was 142. That was very surprising, considering that part of an IQ test is how long it takes one to do it, and obviously that is something that will never be a constant depending on a number of factors. I'd take another, but I'm too damn preoccupied and my eyes ain't too good no mooore!

I don't know how your score can be the same after over 20 years of growth. Also, why does it matter how long it takes a person to go through the test?

Brings to mind something I learned today. Black kids aren't given IQ tests in CA because it is culturally biased. WTF, during my years, black kids received the same education that I did in the same schools with the same books and the same teachers. I don't get it.

As far as the tests, we have a very competitive and prestigious public high school here in VA. The problem was that there was a challenging entrance exam, and the progressives were upset that so many Asians were acing it and so few blacks. So….they dumped the exam and went to some sort of lottery system. The ones who paid the price were the Asians, and the caliber of the classroom instruction had to go down somewhat. It’s still a great school, but not as exceptional as it was when they required the exam.

When they are mandated by school districts for accountability, that destroys what little value they have for any purpose because students have no incentive to do well on the tests. If they were not mandated, you would have a point.

They have no incentive to do well on the SAT? Perhaps that’s a result of progressives’ eliminating it as a college entrance requirement. The fact remains that the test is very predictive of college success, but the test has been eliminated in liberal universities because they can’t justify the acceptance data for black vs white students give the delta in scores.

The IQ test isn't necessarily a scam - excluding those that advertise "answer 10 questions and find out your IQ". The IQ result is even for free - what costs money are the detailed results for you to see and the offer to train or improve your IQ weaknesses and strength.

The one I took, beheld around 80 questions. And around 8 e-mails asking me to pay money to see my details.

An individual with a 1300 will be a better college student than an individual with a 950 - both of whom are applying at the same college. The spot should go to the better student, regardless of race.
