I am speaking from 20/20 hindsight, although it was suspected and suggested, he just walked off his post early in the search. By the time trades were made, it was all but certain.

He did... He just extended the deadline which was very lucky he did...
Biden knew there was no safe passage in the deal which would be expected in any worthwhile withdrawal agreement... So he kept troops in place for as long as he could without escalating tensions with Taliban to the point of violence. trump failure to get Taliban to agree to safe passage was a major flaw. in the deal. The Taliban agreed to the deal to be bent a little, so Biden just pushed the deal a little.
The thing is Taliban didn't say the agreement was broken and violently evicted them...
Lets be clear Trump gave Biden only 2500 troops in the country when Biden took office... The problem wasn't getting the troops home, it was the 100,000+ which Trump was abandoning at Christmas...
So Biden did stick to the deal and when he sent troops back in he didn't break the limit of the deal... The Trump deal was very constraining but Biden for the most stayed inside it as to not would have started a major problem... Trump's deal was piss poor, McMaster called what it waas a surrender and Trump had effectively surrendered by the time he got into office... The troop numbers were ineffective against a 70,000 Taliban army..
Lets make it clear , Trump surrendered...

- Pulled troops out before US citizens
- Gave away Bagram
- Releaded ALL Al Qaeda/ISIS prisoners
- Unleash them on Americans at the Airport
- Unleashed them on citizens trying to get there
- Gave control of Kabul to the Taliban
- Trusted the Taliban w/ithe safety of Americans
- Ignored the Taliban blocking citizens from the airport
- Ignored the Taliban beating Americans
- Refused to let out military go get Americans
- Allowed the Taliban-facilitated bombing of the airport & deaths of Americans
- LIED to allies & Americans and allies by telling them he would notbleave them behind...then doing just that
- Prevented private rescue flights from landing / taking off
- His failed state Dept attempting to claim credit for rescues Madde by Private citizens
TRUMP IS NO LONGER President and was not involved in ANY of those fu@ked-up, piss-poor decisions made by BIDEN & HIS failed administration!
This had nothing to do with a plan / agreement made by the last President but was instead all about Buden's FAILED EXECUTION of a plan, it was about Biden's physical and mental inability to act as Cimmander and Chief due to his lack of ability to deviate from plan, his inability to assess & adapt to in-going changes, his inability yo stand up to the Taliban, his inability to keep HIS promise to Americans and allies that he would NOT abandon & leave them behind.

Trump left Biden with a much more closed Border with an agreement with Mexico and South American nations that the leaders of those nations have declared was working
