Nuclear war is possible, and it is possible because it is survivable and even winnable.

And, btw, if you believe that an all-out nuclear war between Russia and the USA means their mutual annihilation (which is not true), it basically means that Russia may be as provoking as she wish - like, nuke British and French military bases, and the US won't retaliate (and commit suicide).
