Than all their income streams should be taxed as any other business. Render unto Caesar.....Is it a church or a business? I would see that as a problem if it gets tax free status but then turns around and claims it needs money to operate as a business.Really? I thought they didn't even pay taxes. I am all for people worshiping as they feel and as they feel the need, but they have no need that my tax dollars should have to support. Joel should be donating, not receiving.Maybe the answer is in the way the politicians put in clauses

This isn't about Joel Osteen, but the church that he serves. Rev. Osteen receives no salary at all from the church, so he is definitely donating his time.
And this church is a huge employer but was unable to pass around the collection plate for months.
All churches are businesses. Non-profit, but businesses.
You cannot serve God and mammon. There are probably other appropriate verses.
