How God works in our lives

God killed nearly everyone on earth with the flood, making god the biggest mass murderer EVER!
But you don't believe that so you are making an argument that you yourself don't believe.
If the god of the bible exists, he's the biggest mass murderer ever.

And a bit of a homo.
Or maybe you don't understand what was written.
You don't believe the bible is true, so for you god didn't kill anyone with his flood. And you think I don't know what was written? Better than you do, clown.
That is your opinion. Not mine.
Wake up, that is your position. Clown.

In this account Jesus and the disciples were on the Sea of Galilee and a violent storm comes up suddenly. The Sea of Galilee is the lowest freshwater lake on earth at approximately 210 m (700 ft) below sea level. It is longer than it is wide. At its widest points, the lake measures 21 km (13 mi) from north to south and 12 km (7.5 mi) from east to west and is surrounded by hills. The elevation, shape and contour of the lake make it susceptible to storms. Violent storms do "roll" in there suddenly. They even have a name for it. They are called Sharkias.

"...Such storms result from differences in temperatures between the seacoast and the mountains beyond. The Sea of Galilee lies 680 feet below sea level. It is bounded by hills, especially on the east side where they reach 2000 feet high. These heights are a source of cool, dry air. In contrast, directly around the sea, the climate is semi-tropical with warm, moist air. The large difference in height between surrounding land and the sea causes large temperature and pressure changes. This results in strong winds dropping to the sea, funneling through the hills. The Sea of Galilee is small, and these winds may descend directly to the center of the lake with violent results. When the contrasting air masses meet, a storm can arise quickly and without warning. Small boats caught out on the sea are in immediate danger..."

So the setting for this account is valid. In the account, Jesus is sleeping while His disciples are panicking. They couldn't understand how He could be sleeping while their lives were being threatened. That's how most people see God. He's not there when they are going through the storms of their lives.

God is a Master Gardner. He uses it all but does His best work when we are suffering. It's like pruning a bush. Some branches are thin and snap right off. Others are thicker and have to be sawed off. Some hurt more than others. At first it looks like crap. All sparse and twiggy, but then as the new growth occurs it comes in more full and looking better looking than before. He uses it all to progress us and for the one's who know how it works they have peace through the storms to the point they are not storms. But for everyone else they will be holding on for dear life like Rembrandt not understanding how God is working in their lives.

B. Mudda as for the killing and genocides, floods, etc.

This represents the turmoil crisis and catastrophes from living out of harmony with the natural laws of life and peace with all living things in the universe.

This is the old ways of the past, and not something we want to keep repeating.

When we make the decision to live in harmony and peace, then all this changes.

The metaphor of blaming this on a personal God is just that, a symbolic metaphor representing the thought process of man.

if we take responsibility for solving problems, we change this paradigm and relationship.

if we continue to reject responsibility and project blame, this suffering continues to go in endless circles.

Life is not a game to be won by deflecting blame.
So what you see and describe is a phase that humanity goes through to learn to deal with life by experience.

Since what you say is clearly negative and conflicted, that clearly is not the solution, then the message is basically "none of these old ways make sense" and all that has to change.

So what you are saying and assessing is basically coming to the same conclusions about the OT "not working" but just leading to "death and destruction."

EXACTLY

That's why humanity eventually gives up on these "old ways" and seeks and eventually receives a "new way" of approaching life that DOESN'T lead to these impossible contradictions!

We are meant to run into these walls.

You are right, it doesn't make sense.

Eventually we have to give up the old ways
and accept the fact this fails, and we need to let go and find a better way to live and look at life that is consistent and not these constant contradictions that go in circles!
God killed nearly everyone on earth with the flood, making god the biggest mass murderer EVER!

Dear Mudda
That which giveth life can also taketh away.

I have made the analogy to WATER.
We cannot live and exist without it, so it provides LIFE.

But with the floods, hurricanes, tsunamis etc.
this has also taken away lives en masse.

Sometimes CRUELLY.

Nature has both extremes.
Can we appreciate both, can we appreciate
all that LIFE has to offer, and respect both
the good and bad, and try to make the most of LIFE.

Dear Mudda and ding
If God is about eternal universal truth,
and you have found a contradiction in this interpretation
of God and the Bible.

Then clearly God cannot mean those things or it is inconsistent!

Therefore we scrap that circular self-conflicting thought.

By process of elimination, if we drop anything that is false and contrary,
then we will be left with the truth after everything else is removed.

So keep going with this process. Drop anything that cannot be
right because it defies logic and contradicts itself.

Mudda you are right that this approach cannot be
what God and the Bible mean, or it absolutely DOESN'T make sense!

AGREED! So let's drop that and find another way
that is universal and does ring true from all angles, by believers and secular nontheists alike.

If it really is true, then just like science it will be consistent
and not raise flags or cause contradiction with anything else....

That's why I'm agnostic, because nothing so far about god is universal and true, except the fact that god hasn't been proven to exist or not to exist. It's logical and science based, as opposed to any other position that anyone can hold.

Looks like all of those anti marijuana religiously addled nutjobs are at odds with what God himself has declared acceptable, according to the Bible that is..

Can you imagine the guilt incurred by all of those holy rollers over the past several decades from inciting the persecuting of innocent people, breaking up families, seizing property, violating civil rights, police violence, murder, false imprisonment, etc., over this one subject alone? All over a fucking plant.....

No wonder they're all freaked out about judgment day.
