It was good while it lasted but nothing lasts forever. How does the American Experiment end?

Red Dawn-style: collapses when foreign powers—China and Russia—descend upon a fractured nation, toppling it in days as its citizens scramble for survival, unprepared for a war they never believed possible.

Brave New World-style: where the masses, too engrossed in reality TV, influencer drama, and endless TikTok scrolls, barely notice as their rights are signed away in sterile boardrooms.

1984-style with a government that crushes dissent with an iron fist, monitoring every conversation, punishing every thoughtcrime, ensuring obedience through fear, revisionism, and the quiet erasure of those who dare to question.

Hunger Games-style with the wealthiest elite enriching and entertaining themselves at the expense of the desperate masses, watching from their glass towers as the underclass fights over scraps, conditioned to believe their suffering is just the way of the world.

Children of Men-style where the nation rots from within, birthrates plummeting, hope vanishing, and an aging, dying population sleepwalks toward extinction.

Battle-Star Galactica-style where America is undone by its AI and technological hubris.

WALL-E-style where an America neglected by centuries of environmental collapse leads to its abandonment.

Other-style?
I guess I'd go with a combination plate. Part Brave New World, 1984, Hunger Games and Battle Star Gallactica.

We're clearly headed in a neofascist, corporatist direction right now, championed originally by Mussolini. There are zero solutions for our ever-expanding wealth gap on which the two warring tribes can agree, and I wouldn't be shocked to see our version of a French Revolution at some point. And who knows what tech and AI will do, especially since so many workers will be displaced and there is no appetite for even discussion of some kind of universal income.

But in the end, I'm guessing it will be tribalism, ego, hubris, a lack of enough public interest and manipulated, paranoid ignorance. Entirely self-inflicted. As we're seeing already.

The Big Short.

If America falls, I would wager there is a high propensity that such an outcome would be related to your debt and economic collapse. At your weakest , China will expand militarily into Taiwan and other neighbours.

I hope for America to succeed. There are countless Canadians who will leave for America to help you succeed, some of our brightest and most driven. If I had a time machine I know the decision I would have made.
You act as though Canada won’t collapse if America does.

Dimwingers gain control again.

It will borrow and spend itself to death supporting the mooching losers and corrupt, just like every other apex empire in the past 5,000 years.
That’s not how civilizations have ended. Most were beaten by external forces. Very few have destroyed themselves like we are doing.

Here ya go.

Maybe I should have been more specific. A link that supports your post please.

then next time say that,,

OUR TYPE of democracy,,

the flavor matters,,
Really? Did you not understand me or are you just being childishly argumentative?
I wrote: We lose faith in our democracy due to lies we are told and allow a dictator to take power to 'save' us.
If I wrote: We lose faith in our republic due to lies we are told and allow a dictator to take power to 'save' us.
How would the meaning change?

Fortunately, Nov 5th saved our country. Another four years and we would have been toast.

I call BS. Why is a republic unique among the type of democracies when it comes to the Constitution?

BTW, federal judges disagree that Trump violated the Constitution, for example:
On 23 January, a federal district judge in Seattle, John Coughenour, a Ronald Reagan appointee, temporarily blocked Trump’s order to end birthright citizenship. “This is a blatantly unconstitutional order,” Coughenour said. “I have difficulty understanding how a member of the bar would state unequivocally that this is a constitutional order. It just boggles my mind.”
