How are gasoline taxes going to be replaced?

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are committed to transitioning away from gasoline and making it harder for oil companies. Consider this: the Federal Government takes in 18.4 cents per gallon in taxes while state and locals across the nation can take as much as $0.77 on top of that. The “greedy” oil companies and retail stations who assume all of the economic risk take $0.07 per gallon and $0.03 respectively.

How are Democrats going to replace or make up for that? They already refuse to cut spending and are seemingly going to gouge or kill a significant revenue stream.
We can probably save that much or more by not subsidizing oil companies.

The Gov makes more money off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do.

Exactly. Private companies assuming substantial risk with significant capital requirements for $0.07 per gallon. The Federal Government alone reaps nearly 3x that amount and some states nearly 10x the amount and NO RISK whatsoever. The government should be first and foremost doing everything they can to make US Domestic Oil Companies successful. Within reason, these companies should be subject to environmental regulations....but not at a level that puts them at a competitive disadvantage globally or put the US Economy in jeopardy of dependence on foreign oil.

So exxon gets a billion dollars in subsidies, seven cents a gallon on two and a quarter million barrels a day, and a huge tax break?

Seems kinda over the top.

"Highway-related excise tax revenue totaled $40.5 billion in 2019, 41 percent of all excise tax revenue. Gasoline and diesel taxes, which are 18.4 and 24.4 cents per gallon, respectively, make up over 90 percent of total highway tax revenue, with the remaining from taxes on other fuels, trucks, trailers, and tires."

Open you mind and try to put reality into your post. First of all, how many gas and diesel vehicles are on the roads in the United States today? Do you expect anyone to believe once Biden/Harris take the oath of office that will spell the end of oil production in the US. Think about this.

As for the revenue it will remain as it is for at least another generation. Solar, wind, hydroelectric and the new generation of nuclear power are the future.

So Hiden is lying to his constituents?

My mind is open. I keep hearing that solar, wind, hydro are the future. I am all for them. Show me an alternative source for energy besides I oil that I can use now without compromising myself or the American Economy. Point being, there is no need to demonize / punish the oil industries in the present. March towards alternatives like you said. Do it with vigor and speed. Do it without going out of your way to punish the oil industries. Once one or ALL of them are proven, THEN you can talk about no more subsidies.

Charging fees I’m afraid.

It’s not going to happen...we were supposed to be on the metric system by 1980.
The price of products and services will rise with taxes and fees. Hidden and in front of us.

all cars will have to be outfitted with a GPS that will record miles driven and the federal and state government will send you a monthly bill

Correction: making it harder for consumers.

Taxes are never lowered, eliminated, or "replaced." They are always raised and further supplemented by higher taxes on some other economic activity.
