Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are committed to transitioning away from gasoline and making it harder for oil companies. Consider this: the Federal Government takes in 18.4 cents per gallon in taxes while state and locals across the nation can take as much as $0.77 on top of that. The “greedy” oil companies and retail stations who assume all of the economic risk take $0.07 per gallon and $0.03 respectively.

How are Democrats going to replace or make up for that? They already refuse to cut spending and are seemingly going to gouge or kill a significant revenue stream.

I say, let's give it a trial run. 4 year tax holiday on all fuels, but let energy corps pocket the difference.

Californication wanted to enact that every vehicle would be fitted with a Cal gps so for every mile used, they could charge you. Since a lot of progs drive Prius and EVs, the state has to get the taxes from somewhere. So when people actually start following the prog rules, they still get punished because for progs it is never enough taxes.....

By the way, this is the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Bankrupt by overspending, then replace one form of government with another.

How does that scale or align with current gas taxes?

I am not the originator of the plan so I can't tell yous..Right now the states and the feds claim they need more taxes for roads so it is never a settled number.

We can probably save that much or more by not subsidizing oil companies.

Dems will just increase other taxes. Biden is vowing to increase taxes on the dead by raising the estate tax while also cutting in half the amount that's exempt in a double whammy. God it's like there's not limit on the tax increases Democrats drool over. TAX EVERYTHING it's the Demo motto.

Leftist never look that far ahead. They just spew whatever gets them votes and deal with the repercussions later. Then use the media to blame it on anyone or anything but them.

Tax the battery industry of course. Get ready for a single AA to cost 10 bucks.

Charging fees I’m afraid.

It’s not going to happen...we were supposed to be on the metric system by 1980.

Their is also air. They could attach some sort of device monitoring how many times you exhale CO2 into the atmosphere and charge you a carbon tax.

One thing we have learned from the democrats over the years is that taxation cures all of our ills

A specious, wishful plan; but, please, by all means, show US the math. What is the total we are subsidizing the oil companies? Better yet, if we don't subsidize the oil companies, how about doing away with all fuel taxes? I am sure the oil companies would rather have $0.10 to $0.20 per gallon as opposed to $0.07. The consumer might appreciate that, too, because taxes are simply passed to the consumer. I am also certain that Democrats are obsessed with taking away the subsidies while maintaining if not expanding/increasing fuel taxes.

The Gov makes more money off a gallon of gas than the oil companies do.

Here in Illinois they've already solved the problem

They've hammered electric vehicle owners on their annual sticker. Normal sticker is ~100,

400.00 if you are an EV owner.

LOL. Do your part to help the planet. Get fucked for it. Welcome to Illinois.

ETA: I looked it up. It's 400 for initial registration, 250 per year.
