Tax cuts in and of themselves aren't "good" or "bad". Its what they do to the economy and who benefits that makes them so.

Me? I think it's wrong to give permanent tax cuts to the corporations and the wealthy, while only giving temporary ones to everyone else.

Kinda reminds me when Jr. gave the rich a whole bunch of tax cuts, while the rest of us got a 300.00 check.

here. They weren't aware that people making less than 75 grand a year are getting temporary tax cuts. But the scam doesn't end there. The elimination of deductions for mortgage payments is going to take a chunk of that temp tax cut. And for renters ...your landlord can't deduct his mortgages on rental property either. So unless a conglomerate or corporation owns the rental property an individual landlord will raise the rent to make up the difference.

The fact is that the bill favors the rich and corporations. What this bill does is raise taxes on some groups to cut taxes on others. Even Ben Stein calls this a mess and he brags about having never voted for a Democrat.

If we were talking about just the rate cuts on higher income people, that would be no problem. However the rich kept loopholes and got new ones. The carried interest deduction was retained even though Trump said he would get rid of it. The pass through provision is ripe for abuse. Then you had the late provision that extended the pass through provision to real estate trusts. One that benefits Paul Ryan, Donald Trump and Bob Corker who changed his vote from no to yes.

Business tax reform should be simple. Take away business tax breaks and use it to lower rates, However Republicans did not do this. They used a bait and switch to take money from individuals and use it for corporate tax cuts. The standard deduction is not raised for inflation as it currently is. That means it loses value each year due to inflation. Also the brackets are indexed to chained inflation which is less than the CPI. That means that people will be pushed into higher tax brackets.
The reason the mandate was repealed was because it gave them more money to give to businesses. That will mean that some people will be priced out of the market.

Repealing the mandate means that healthy people will try to freeload. That means premiums will go higher and people who do not get subsidies will see premiums rise. The premium increases that have occurred since Trump took over belong to Republicans. They have made no secret that they want to cause Obamacare to implode and have done everything they can to cause that.
