I look at it like this...

When I started out as a young married professional, I had big debt - mortgage, student loan, car payment. A few times my annual GDP.

Over 15 or 20 years, I paid them all off. Then I started accumulating wealth. If a crisis hits, I can fund it now without a loan.

I think after 250 years, the most powerful nation on Earth should be able to balance its budget.

If it works out for him, it could be repeated with Presidents that come and go but oligarchs taking turns, so to speak, to get more direct control over events, regulations and policy than they ever had with their armies of paid lobbyists.

We will have to see for sure, what elected politician actually do, self-serving obedience or actually representing the country, when it counts. The answer may not be as obvious as either side thinks.

Am I worried? No. The sky hasn't fallen, and probably won't on me and mine. Some change is needed. Some change is good. Possibly having a real businessman, that doesn't have a history of taking bankruptcy rather than operate successful going concerns, could be the difference. Besides, I have years to make up my mind based on actual actions of the new administration, but my history says it will only take 9 months, or at least that is what I try to extend to new administrations.
